2011 Waggin’ Tails Charity Auction
Another Huge Success

The AAF held its biggest fundraiser of the year back in March and once again, it proved to be successful. With almost 400 animal lovers
attending the event, over $35,000 was raised. All proceeds went to the homeless pets residing at the animal shelter. The night was filled with a
collective assortment of raffles, door prizes, live music, good food and much, much more. The largest crowd ever to attend the AAF charity
auction was entertained by not one band but by three. We want to thank “Hard Candy”, Craig Wilson and Chaser for keeping the place
hopping while guests perused the silent auction items and while sitting down for a tasty meal.
Special guest emcee Chris Guyson, program director for 92.5 The Fox, made sure everyone kept a smile on their face and an occasional chuckle
with his witty sense of humor. Honorable emcee Bill “The Segman” Dennison from 700 WLW was also in attendance and once again offered a
guest appearance on the “Stooge Report” as an auction item much to the pleasure of the crowd.
For those who came to the event in hopes of getting to see some of our adoptable dogs were not disappointed. AAF volunteers brought several of
our four-legged friends to the event and for a dog, they were all very well behaved. There were also some special VIP dogs in attendance. Scooter
and Sam along with their new families brought a smile and a tear to everyone’s face with their stories of overcoming the odds in finding a forever
home.
Many months of planning and countless hours put in by dedicated volunteers culminated into one wonderful evening. We would like to thank the

Shelter Extends Hours Of Operation

To say that the AAF has grown by leaps and bounds over the past six years
would be an understatement. In accordance with that growth, the AAF is
happy to announce that the shelter is now open for adoptions six days a week.
The shelter was open just two days a week when it was located in Okeana,
Ohio. After moving into our new location in 2005, we increased that number
to four days per week. With the addition of volunteer adoption counselors and
adoption assistants we can now make it easier for potential adopters to visit
our available pets by offering the additional days. We’re hoping that this
change will result in an increase in the number of adopted pets. Our new
adoption hours are: Tuesday-Friday 4-7pm and Saturday & Sunday 1-4pm.

The AAF is proud to introduce our new HOMEWARD BOUND program. In
hopes to increase the number of adoptions, we are now offering some
“incentives” that will hopefully result in more cats and dogs finding forever
homes. With each dog adoption, the family will receive a 40 lb. bag of Hill’s
Science Diet food, a training DVD, a Kong toy and a report card for that
particular dog. For each cat adoption, the family will receive a 25 lb. bag of
Hill’s Science Diet food, a cat toy, bag of treats and a food & water bowl. The
adoption fee for all dogs is $125 and $85 for all cats. Make sure to visit our

AAF’s Cat Caravan Comes Out On Top With
The Most Spay/Neuter Surgeries

The Animal Adoption Foundation is proud to announce that we helped make
possible a total of 410 spay/neuter surgeries in the year 2010 in
collaboration with UCAN, the United Coalition for Animals, in downtown
Cincinnati. UCAN provides a free transport program to shelters all over the
Tri-State, and the AAF came out on top with the most surgeries in 2010!
AAF offers the cat caravan to the public for only $41.00 which includes the
spay/neuter surgery and a rabies shot. UCAN picks up the cats and
kittens that qualify at AAF in their van the morning of the surgery and
brings them back to the UCAN clinic for surgery where they recover
overnight. The van returns to AAF the following morning where the cats are
ready for pick-up.
We want to thank the community for taking advantage of our services and
doing the right thing for their pets, as well as, those that spend their own
money to have strays in their neighborhood fixed in order to prevent more
births in a world with already overcrowded shelters and not enough homes.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Remembering Timothy Chesnut
The AAF lost a dear friend on August 14th, 2011.
Timothy Lee Chesnut was not only a compassionate
animal lover but also a selfless individual who would come
to the shelter at the drop of a hat if we needed help with a
maintenance issue. Tim was employed by Bill Spade
Electric, Heating & Cooling and was instrumental in the
installation of our geothermal units and our security
system. Tim and his wife Jenny have done so much for
our organization and so much to help homeless pets, having rescued several
of their own. We want to express our deepest sympathy to Tim’s family and
friends.
He will always be missed by everyone at the AAF and in
remembrance of Tim, we have planted a Redbud tree at the shelter. R.I.P.

Here are some pictures of Panda and Boots.
They are giving us much enjoyment and we
are glad we went through your adoption
agency. As you can see, they are doing
quite well.
David and Debbie
Clarisse (formerly Tinkerbell) is doing very well. She
enjoys lounging around, attacking stray hair bands she
finds on the floor, and cuddling in the evenings. I knew
within minutes of meeting her that she was the cat for
me. We just seemed to have a connection. She was
super friendly and affectionate. And, I just think she is
gorgeous, despite her funky haircut. Learning that she
was an "older" cat (7 yrs. old) had no effect on my
decision to adopt her. I don't consider seven to be old
for a cat because the first cat my family ever adopted
was five yrs. old and he lived to be close to eighteen.
Clarisse is lively and seems content. And, I am happy
that I can give her a nice home.

Thank you AAF for the most adorable and
playful kitten we could ever ask for! This
is Custard. We adopted him three weeks
ago. He has settled in well and is quite
loved.
