Brunch at BG
Akris and Presbyterian Hospital Committee host a brunch at
Bergdorf's BG
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
(NEW YORK) Before Jim Gold & Co. could board a
plane to Milan for a fashion fortnight in Europe, there was
one more important event to attend on the Bergdorf
Goodman premises. Akris hosted a brunch yesterday at BG
along with Dr. Frank Chervenak and the Presbyterian
Hospital Committee to highlight the company's Botticelliesque spring collection and help highlight the charity's
main event later this year. Lizzie Tisch, Lisa Anastos,
Christine Chun and Melissa Skoogwere some of the
names who joined Caroline Brown and Emilie Rubinfeld
from Akris for a morning meal of mushroom and egg
quiche, fruit salad, and warm croissants. And there was
plenty to smile about as fresh-faced models paraded around
the restaurant room. 2009
will mark a 20 year
relationship between
Bergforf and Akris' head
designerAlbert Kriemler.
And there's always the fact
that Angelina Jolie has been
wearing the Swiss brand
almost non-stop this year-that kind of endorsement
can't be bad for business.

A Floral Fête
The New York Botanical Garden’s famed Orchid Dinner
fills the Rainbow Room with greenery
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
(NEW YORK) The haute-est of new York society
came out last night for the New York Botanical Garden’s
famed Orchid Dinner, held at the Rainbow Room. The
stunning event, which raised somewhere around $600,000
for the gardens, started with cocktails in 30 Rock’s
Pegasus Suite, which was filled to the hilt with exotic
orchids up for sale. "There’s not one plain white orchid
there!" exclaimed Gillian Miniter, one of the night’s
chairs, after browsing the gorgeous
buds.
But the evening’s floral spectacle
didn’t end there; the twentysomething tables in the Rainbow
Room each had a unique orchid
centerpiece atop it, by leading
florists and designers. Patrick
McMullan flitted around snapping
Gillian Miniter with Angel
shots as one guest took in the lovely

could not be prettier!" One of the

centerpiece including a glass vessel
full of greenery. And the flowers weren’t limited to the tabletops: Miniter wore a gold Angel
Sanchez dress, embellished with flowers. "I saw this over the summer and knew it would be
perfect for the Orchid Dinner," she said, after chatting with the designer.
As guests trickled out after an evening of indulging and dancing, many carried out the
pristinely packaged flowers they had bid on. Why didn’t Sanchez have an arrangement, one
guest wanted to know? "I wouldn’t know how to take care of it!" he laughed.

Project Glamour
The magazine celebrates 70 years with 10 interpretations of
its title
Tuesday, February 24, 2009
(NEW YORK) "Ask 10 women what glamour means,
and you'll get 10 different answers," Glamour editor
Cindi Leive said. "Ask 10 women artists, and you'll get
10 showstopping, brilliantly realized visions-some of
them sweet, some of them shocking, but each one a very
personal manifesto on the meaning of femininity in
2009." In honor of the magazine's seven decades of
style, Leive did just that-and celebrated the ten artists'
interpretations at the Glamour Project fête last night at
the Lehmann Maupin gallery. Nina Chanel Abney, Rita
Ackermann, Sarah Charlesworth, Tracey Emin,
Rachel Feinstein, Marilyn
Minter, Laurie Simmons,
Lorna Simpson, Mickalene
