3D Historical Fiction
This year at the elementary level My Big Campus has opened up a place of students to
collaborate, communicate, use critical thinking and creativity all in one place. Come see
how one Fifth Grade classroom at Hazel Dell has used My Big Campus to step back in time
to research a historical time period and create “bundles” of information for others to use
view and use, draft stories for ongoing feedback and publish a piece of historical fiction
writing to turn into a 3D video representation of their story!

21 Century Photography
Photography has changed dramatically in the last ten years. No longer is digital
photography an item for the "future." Within the Visual Art Department, Photography is
100% digital and fully integrated with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop 6, DSLR's, iPad
cameras, and camera phones. We would like to present a sampling of the work being
produced within our classes, and provide resources for teachers, parents, and the
community to learn.

Artsonia- Student World WIde Art Gallery
This presentation will center around the World-Wide, On-Line Student Art Gallery, Artsonia.
Through this website the students are showcasing their creativity with family, friends and
students from around the world. Every student has their own personal gallery and they want
to share with you!
They are working on communication skills by writing "artist statements" and commenting
on other student's artwork.
Through this technology the student are able to view art work from most all countries of the
world.
Parents and friends are able to view the artwork, become fan club members, and comment
on the artwork. Family members become more involved with what their young artists are
creating and doing in their art classes.
Last year was Noble Crossing's first year to participate on Artsonia. Noble Crossing was
ranking #7 in the state from all participating elementary schools in Indiana. What I am most
proud of is that Noble Crossing ranked very high in the writing of artist's statements. As
their teacher I saw the students transfer their knowledge of art when writing about their
artwork. They continually used art vocabulary learned in the classroom.

Indiana Tourism PBL
People are unaware of the unique counties of Indiana. There are so many counties in
Indiana that would be fun and interesting places to visit. Hopefully Hoosiers will not feel the
urge to travel to faraway places for an exciting and fun vacation, as well as inform people
from all over the country that making a trip to Indiana would be a great vacation idea!
Driving Question
How can we as Indiana travel agents, help promote tourism in Indiana?
Subquestions:
Geographical → How is your regions tourism influenced the geographical landforms/
features?
Weather → How is your regions tourism affected the weather/climate (seasons)?
Historical → How have groups and individuals influenced and changed the history and
culture of your region and how do these changes influence tourism?

Kinders creating eBooks
Ever heard of the Gingerbread Man? Did you know that one time the G-Man was eaten by a
T-Rex? This may not seem like a typical plot for the lovable story we all know, but when
Kindergarten students are allowed to create their own stories, the possibilities are endless.
Students used their previous knowledge of key features in a story (character, setting, and
plot) to create their own story for the 21st century. Using the eBook Creator app on the
iPad, students created stories that they could share with classmates, family, and friends.
While leaving the paper, pencils, and staples behind, students are planning, writing, and
publishing stories for all to HEAR and SEE.

Language Learning
Acquiring a second language takes a long time. Or does it? Can you walk out of a 20
minute session and speak a second langauge - at least a little bit? The answer is YES!
This system of language teaching is simple: expose students to components of the
language in a way that makes sense, and then use storytelling to frequently reuse and
recycle the language in numerous contexts until students get the meaning, not just the
definition of the vocabulary.
Bonus of this session: You will be able to speak a little bit of German when you leave!

Meet the Authors
The 7th grade language arts students at NWMS and 3rd graders at HDE were brought
together using the Zoom application on the iPads for an amazing 40-minute, interactive
learning session.
Each 7th grader is required to create an illustrated myth as part of the quarter assessment.
This year the 7th grade teachers wanted to give the students an authentic audience.
Using grant monies from the Noblesville Schools Education Foundation, each student
received a blank soft cover book to "publish" his/her myth. On the day of the project,
groups of 7th graders remotely connected with a group of 3rd graders using district iPads.
The myths were read aloud and then a guided discussion took place that was facilitated by
the 7th graders.
This project allowed interaction between buildings, a connection with other students in the
Noblesville community, and an authentic approach to a required assessment that
"redefined" its outcome.

Online Decision-Making Simulations
7th and 8th grade students will be demonstrating the power of online simulations. The 7th
grade simulation takes place in Haiti where students are given a family of five and attempt
to raise the standard of living over the course of 4 years. This simulation does an excellent
job of allowing students to explore the difficulties of life in a low standard of living country.
The 8th grade simulations, mission-us.org, allow students to experience three different time
periods--the Boston Massacre of 1770, the Underground Railroad as a slave in Kentucky
during 1848, and life as a Cheyenne Native American trying to rebuild life in a new place
after the government forced them from their homelands.
