CUSTOM DUALLIES!
Creating those cool dual rear wheels!
BY MATT BUTLER
So, have you ever wondered how a set of
Tamiya BFG’s would look on a set of Tamiya
Semi Wheels? Well I did, and I decided I would
find out. Well as it turns out the Semi wheels are
just a bit to small to fit the BFG’s properly. However, that little hiccup was not going to deter me.
Volume 1, Issue 1
Now that I have prepared my Semi
wheel I then need to get the 1.9” bead channel
off the spare wheels I had lying around. So I took
my rotary tool and the saw blade I had and cut
just along the inside edge of the rim bead. Removing as much as possible of the wheel channel.
Luckily I had a spare set of chrome 1.9”
wheels lying around and I got to thinking, I wonder if I can take the bead channel off this wheel
and install it on the Semi wheel! Well wouldn’t
you know it! It worked! And the result was this:
Ofcourse I did this on both sides of the
wheels. My next step is to install the newly removed 1.9” channel and install it on the Semi
wheel. I test fitted each one and centered it as
best as possible and then CA’ed them in place.
Looks pretty good, don’t you think!
Well, now I’m sure you’re a bit more curious as
to how I accomplished this, so here is how!
First thing I did was take my Semi wheel
my rotary tool and sanded down both outside
bead lips.

As you can see, its really quite easy to do. Just take some time with all the cutting and sanding, you want
to preserve that chrome finish on the wheels!
Here’s how the finished product looked on my truck!
