2014-15 7-Hr Equivalent USPAP Update Course
The core of this course focuses on the 2014-2015 Uniform Standards
of Professional Appraisal Practice updates as set forth by the Appraisal
Standards Board of The Appraisal Foundation. Also included are issues
that appraisers face in their daily appraisal assignments, as well as common
USPAP violations.
APPROVED FOR APPRAISAL
Agency—The Big Picture
Buyers and sellers of real estate want assurance that their individual
interests are protected. They want to know what type of relationship they
have with their sales agent before disclosing confidential information
regarding a real estate transaction. In an ongoing attempt to protect
consumers involved in real estate transactions, agency laws were created.
Though agency laws can vary from state to state, they all provide the same
basic requirements.

Appraisal Review of Residential Properties
The focus of this course will be on reviewing appraisals (and/or its
components) performed by other appraisers as part of an appraisal
assignment. Today, more than ever, the need for assurance that quality
appraisals are being developed and communicated is of paramount
importance for preserving public trust in professional appraisal practice.
Schemes and breakdowns in the financial industry in recent years have
prompted an outcry for quality assurance in the appraisal mechanism
to reduce risk for users of appraisal services. Because of these issues, the
importance of quality appraisal review is more important than ever and
should result in increased demand for competent and knowledgeable
reviewers.

Benefit Solutions for Business Markets
The business markets provide many opportunities for the life and health
agent. Besides being in an arena dealing with interesting and hard-working
people, the business markets are filled with important needs that the agent
can derive personal and professional satisfaction from meeting.
This course will provide the agent with the information and tools
businesses need to provide benefits for their employees through meeting
group benefits objectives, developing executive incentives, establishing
retirement plans, all while managing cash flow and taxation related to all
these needs.

Commercial Coverages
Commercial insurance coverage fills an important need for businesses.
Without it, a business could suffer such significant loss that its ongoing
financial health is suspended. This course looks at the many types of
commercial insurance coverages available and how they meet a business’
needs.
First, the many risks a business is exposed to are considered. Next,
principles of risk management are explained, and the importance of
insurance in managing risks is defined. Liability coverages are then
examined, for large and small businesses. Business property coverages
are discussed, followed by business auto coverage. Transportation and
communication risks are addressed through inland marine coverage. The
course concludes with a look at terrorism coverage.

right by law. In this course, we will focus on the mandatory fair housing
issues that real estate licensees must understand. The United States

the practical and ethical duties a producer owes to his or her insurer, and
clients, practice areas that are common sources for conflicts and problems
and how they can be avoided, case law that documents the many areas

Understanding E&O Coverage
The ever-increasing complexities of today’s business transactions and the
rising use of litigation have prompted a need for Errors and Omissions (E
& O) insurance programs. This type of insurance is necessary to reduce
the risk of potential lawsuits for sales and service professionals and the
businesses they represent. The following course addresses E & O and
professional liability insurance, answering many of the questions about
how E & O insurance works.
E & O is a form of insurance that covers liabilities for errors, mistakes
and negligence in the usual business activities. It does not, however, cover
fraudulent behavior, punitive damages or claims based on transactions for
the personal account of a business professional. Considering the enormous
exposure to liability of business professionals under the provisions of
the broad liability laws, the importance of E & O insurance cannot be
overstated. Take the purchase of E&O insurance seriously – it is one of the
most important business decisions a professional will make.
