MACK’S APPLES BAKE SALE

The staff is pleased to announce that the new
location is handicapped accessible,
conveniently located, has plenty of parking
and will allow the current and even future
staff and office volunteers to have their own
work stations. Cindee Tanuma, Executive Director says “We will sorely miss being in the heart
of downtown Derry, but we reached our capacity at our former home and it was time to grow.”

actual move, and unpacking in Londonderry as well as cleaning, painting, data work, electrical
work, Loaner’s Closet fixture design and installation in the new office: Al & Marion Lake,

10th Annual Potter’s Bowl Highlights
Close to $8500 was raised at the event to help Community Caregivers of Greater Derry’s mission to
help your neighbors in 7 towns. This fundraiser will allow over 400 volunteers to help over 300
elderly and disabled stay in their homes as long as possible through caregiving tasks, free of charge.
This fundraiser also helps to sustain our Loaner’s Closet for Durable Medical Equipment.

Are you a senior male or female client of Caregivers who likes to GOLF?
Would you enjoy playing a round of golf with a young person in your own
community? As part of the Pinkerton Academy Youth Day of Giving Back on Tuesday, May
19th, we will be hosting an outing at Hoodkroft Country Club. The day will include transportation, if needed, equipment, a cart and lunch at the club house. There is so much we can learn from each
other and that we have in common, regardless of our ages. Call Cindee at 432-0877 if you are interested

Caregivers will be hosting a “sewing bee” on Monday, April 27th from 10AM to
2PM! Volunteers will be sewing table runners, pillow cases and adult bibs here at our
office in Londonderry to sell at upcoming spring craft fairs such as the Apple Country
Craft Fair on May 16th at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Londonderry.
Refreshments will be served. Needed: Colorful cotton material, skilled fabric cutters,
portable sewing machines, quality scissors and skilled sewers!

The staff and Board at Caregivers are thrilled with the new location and would like to show
their gratitude to all our supporters and the public alike with a reception on Wednesday, May
13th from 3-6PM. Please come by for refreshments and see our new space, meet our staff

FACTS: In 2014 417 volunteers collectively
donated 29,389 hours of their own time to help a
neighbor in need. Our drivers drove over 114,697
miles to help our 340 clients access much needed
care.

Thank you to Mack’s Apples for allowing us to hold another successful bake sale on
September 28th. Thirty bakers and fifteen volunteers helped in raising $1100 for our free
programs. Thank you to all who contributed or attended. Mark your calendar for this year’s
sale on October 18, 2015.

Thank you to the mission committee at FIRST PARISH CHURCH UCC for delivering
Thanksgiving baskets and greetings to ten of our homebound clients and for fulfilling their
Christmas wishes as well.
x
Thank you to all the parishioners at HOLY CROSS CHURCH that participated in our angel
tree benefiting 30 elderly clients. They went the extra mile this year as we were in the midst of
moving and did not have the time or space to house and deliver the gifts. One church family,
The Kloks, delivered each and every gift. Thanks also to Sally Dion for coordinating the service
project each year. We look forward to the partnership, and we know the church members look
forward to it as well.

Lastly, thank you to the Masonic Charitable Foundation / St. Mark’s Lodge No. 44 for their
annual Christmas Tree Sale Proceed donation of $200. We will miss sharing a lobby with all the
tree sellers for the month that the sale is occurring.
NEWS…Since the last newsletter, we have been
awarded funding from the following sources to help
underwrite the cost of running the Closet. We would
also like to remind folks that every one of our 6000
pieces of equipment has been donated to us (not
purchased). Thank you to anyone who has donated.

took to come to our office and drop off the item(s) donated.

Caregivers loaned over 1478 pieces of equipment in 2014 plus close to 360 consumable items
(adult diapers, Chux pads, etc.) to folks all over New Hampshire as well as other New
England states. Our hours of operation are 9AM-3PM Mon-Fri. Please do not drop items at the
door after hours! If you are not sure if we accept the item you have to donate, please call
Donna our Loaner’s Closet Coordinator. An extensive FAQ section is also on our webpage
www.comcaregivers.org. Reminder: We do NOT take hospital beds or mattresses, Hoyer lifts,
lift chairs and any other large items as space is limited, but we can however help you find a
home for them. Please call Donna at 432-0877 x 3 for more information.

Hampstead
Amateur radio operator and remote control car lover living near Colby Corner is looking for someone to do his shopping and pick
up prescriptions in Plaistow every two weeks. Doesn’t smoke, and has no pets and is wheelchair bound. Used to be in HVAC
trade.
Avid gardener, reader and painter in Emerson Village looking for help around the house twice a month and someone to shop for
her once a month. Used to be foster mom for twenty years. Doesn’t smoke or have pets.
Former dance teacher, folk singer and political activist looking for someone to place her trash out each Sunday night.
Can’t do because of recent stroke and back problems. Also would love occasional help with mopping and vacuuming.
Very independent. Has cat.
Elderly woman in Village Green Apartments looking for loud speaking female volunteer to help once a week with changing sheets,
cleaning bathroom and floors, watering plants, taking out trash and getting mail.
Recent widow in her eighties in Granite Ridge looking for afternoon female visitor (loud speaker) and help with shopping and
prescription pickups.
New York native, male, with muscular disease looking for help with light chores.
Would prefer female. Any age.
Has small dog, doesn’t smoke.
Danville
Danville couple in Cotton Farm looking for very skilled help to fix parts of roof, frame, windows and floor on screened-in porch
and shed. If you own a construction business and would consider doing one pro-bono job this spring, please contact Cindee
today. Small stipend available for supplies through funds provided by the People’s United Bank Foundation.
Middle aged female, stroke survivor, looking for someone to cut small lawn once every three weeks in summer and shovel in
winter. Also looking for someone to take home her laundry twice a month. Doesn’t smoke or have pets.

Disabled woman in downtown Derry needs help sorting, purging, organizing and eventually packing for a move to Maine.
Once a week for two hours until done. Seeking someone with expertise on organizing paperwork. No mornings please.
Chronically ill woman in Derry Country Club Estates is looking for sweet person to help clean up around apartment and
visit with her. Does smoke.
Widow, avid reader, bookstore manager and former editor looking for help twice a month to clean her apartment and hang and
fold laundry. Has Parkinson’s, cat and lives in the Fairways.
Woman near police station, former UPS worker, looking for someone to clean as her arthritis doesn’t allow her. Smokes and has
multiple cats.
Elderly gentleman on the Chester line looking for someone to shop for him. Limited by O2 and wheelchair bound.
Soft spoken female sought to help with housework for female in the Fairways. Bone, joint and pain problems. Has one cat, doesn’t
smoke. Christian from upstate NY. Especially needs help with laundry in the basement and vacuuming. Still works two days
a week.
Recently moved here from the Northwest, elderly male who has been a lifelong chef, is looking for someone to take him to store
twice a month and friendly visit. Male preferred. Afternoons best. Loves to talk.

Elderly couple in Bockman’s Mobile Home Park looking for help to maintain their trailer, yard and acquire groceries.
Doesn’t feel safe driving anymore. Lived in home 60 years, has Parkinson’s and neuropathy, owns dog, used to love to
garden.
Windham
Woman in Manor Motel looking for someone to take her to Market Basket in Salem once a week (day or night) and to a
laundromat twice a month (could also bring her clothes home with you to launder and bring back).
Elderly male vet near Shadow Lake looking for someone to take him to Walmart twice a month.
