sales, oh yeah and we had a baby.
Natalie will be taking a few weeks
off from the road and I will be doing shows alone for the first time
in 6 years. “The show must go on”

This month I will be performing
schools shows, church shows,
teaching private magic lessons,

and more.

Who is this guy? Hank Lee
Hank Lee is one of the best known magic dealers in
America. He has been a magic dealer for 36 years as of
now and as a kid I remember lugging his 600 page catalog to school to thumb through in study hall. He calls
his store Hank Lee’s Magic Factory and he carries anything from close up magic to stage magic. Hank Lee
also runs a convention each year called the Cape Cod
Conclave which goes on for 3 days and includes lectures, shows, and a dealers room where magicians can
shop for even more magic.

Who is this guy? (Cont)
This year Natalie & I went to Salem, Cape Cod, Plymouth, and Boston with her parents and I asked if I could
stop in at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory one day on the trip since I had done business with them since I was a
kid and had never been to Boston before. I was a little disappointed with the magic shop once I got there because of the size of the place. Since the internet, magic shops all
over have been closing and people are just selling online. Hank
Lee’s shop does have a store front and a room where someone
can show you some magic when you walk in off the street but it is
pretty small. The demo guy the day I was there was really nice
and I unfortunately can’t remember his name, but he was very
knowledgeable and helpful. Hank Lee’s magic factory carries
thousands of magic effects but in his store front they have very
little.

Entertainment News / Princess Tenko turning away work
Princess Tenko has prformed for Kim Jong Il in the past, even doing her signature escape from a 2 ton tank of
water. The most interesting thing about that is that it is reported that Kim
Jong Il had Evian water used to fill the tank worrying that the drinking water
his people used may harm her skin.
After his death she was asked to perform at his funeral but respectfully declined.
To see her in action just search Princess Tenko on Youtube.com
Video of the month/ Wes Iseli’s 1 of a kind production item
This month we decided to introduce baby Lana into the world of magic by producing her in my video of the
month. Natalie & I had to ask another magician if the effect was good because we were caught up in the cute
factor.

New Year’s Eve 2011
This New Year's Eve has been on my mind for several months. 12/31/11 was the due date of our little girl Lana. The
only bad thing about that was I had a contract to perform an illusion show for a country club that night; New Year's
Eve is always a great payday for entertainers. Lana came early on Dec 28th and I was able to bring Natalie & Lana to
the show. We did not do the illusions I had planned, but instead I did a 100 foot rope tie escape and a new mind reading routine which uses 5 adult volunteers from the audience. Both of those tricks "pack small and play big" which
was nice since Natalie could not help like we both thought she would be able to. Natalie did assist me during the
show but did so for the most part from a comfy chair behind me. Lana was out in the audience being watched by
friends of ours we met in birthing classes. The show went great and at the end of the show I got to bring Natalie &
Lana out onstage and introduce her and as a family wish everyone a very happy new year. Afterwards, we went to our
friends’ home and brought in the New Year while drinking sparkling cider and watching the ball drop on TV.
Magic News / The Illusionists Show
This show includes Brett Daniels, Dimmare, Kevin James, Jeff Hobson, Dan Sperry, Phillip Escoffey and Andrew Basso for a
run at the Sydney Opera house then will move to Asia and Europe through 2012.
The commercial and promotional material looks amazing and using The
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as a model the element of mystery is
heightened.

I can’t wait till this show comes to America!
My lecture for Magicians
As you may or may not know I am hired from time to time to lecture for magicians teaching them the ins and outs of being a full time magician & letting them in on some of my
office secrets and teaching a few tricks as well.
Last month I was approached to give my lecture privately to an up & coming magician.
This is what he said after the lecture: “Wes, thanks for opening up my magic to a whole
new world of marketing possibilities. Wow! A real eye opening experience! Your keen marketing insight and real world experience are like the two sides of a double edged sword
that just cut through the fog that was holding me back. When it comes to marketing our
magic, so many of us just plain don’t get it. Thanks for sharing this stuff and not keeping
it all to yourself. Your lecture was just what I needed to get my act together…”

Some of our Christmas shows from 2011
This Christmas was really good for us business wise. We performed in Northern Va, Va Beach and everywhere
in between. We are not able to take photos at all shows due to security restrictions at some locations and logistical reasons at others. Below are some photos from a few of our December 2011 Christmas shows:

One of the most popular pocket tricks of all time.
We want your next event to be magical!
We’re on the web
wesiseli.com
A coin is borrowed and vanishes from the magician's fingertips.
A small box is removed from the magician's pocket. This is
handed to the spectator, who opens the box. Inside he finds a
matchbox, encircled with rubber bands. Inside the matchbox, the
spectator finds a small bag, also closed with a rubber band. Inside
the bag is the missing coin!
Only $4.00

Teach a Trick / A simple rising card
Effect: The magician asks the spectator to choose a card, the magician then places the card in the
pack, shuffles, and then starts to rub his or her pointer finger on his or her pants as if causing friction. Then by placing the pointer finger onto the pack of cards 1 card rises out of the pack and it is
the chosen card.
Secret: While pretending the pointer finger has magically been statically charged you are really secretly extending your pinky finger and just using that finger to push the card off of the deck.
Tip: Ask the spectator to put the card on top of the pack then turn the pack over so you see the
faces of the cards then start to mix up the cards but make sure you don’t touch the chosen card.
The picture should help show you what the levitation looks like.
Good luck and remember to practice before showing anyone!
