Flavors of Tuscany
Dear Carolina Alumni and Friends,
Join fellow Tar Heels and friends on an exclusive small-group tour
focusing on the cuisine and wines of Tuscany. Embrace the culture
and beauty of Tuscany in a way few people ever experience.
Enjoy your accommodations at an authentic wine estate set
amid vineyards and overlooking the Tuscan hills. In addition to your
cooking lessons with a Michelin-rated chef and under the tutelage
of four “Tuscan Mammas,” you will have ample opportunities to
sample the wines of the region and tour various wineries. Stroll
the vineyards, make your own ricotta, sample olive oils and wine
varietals and fully enjoy the Tuscan way of life surrounded by great
people and fabulous cuisine.
Visit the historic towns throughout the region and enjoy a full day
and night in Florence.
Availability is limited to just 18 guests. Our 2012 Flavors of
Northern Italy and 2013 Flavors of Provence were quite popular and
received excellent reviews. We anticipate this trip will also fill quickly,
and we urge you to make your reservation today.
Yours at Carolina,
Douglas S. Dibbert ‘70
President, UNC General Alumni Association
h Free 3-Month Wine Subscription H
A N E ARLY RESER VATION B ONU S

Translate Tuscany
Beginning with Buon Appetito
Sample a Chianti Classico, sourced from the earth under
your feet. Squeeze a fresh tomato. Stir a fragrant pot. Foray to Tuscany’s breathtaking cultural capitals and small, cypress-studded hill towns—always returning to your Tuscan
home and the convivial atmosphere of a small-group journey.
At the end of nine days, you will be a skilled practitioner
of Tuscany’s cultural lingo, with perfect command of the
three words that matter most: la dolce vita.

“In Italy, perhaps more than anywhere else, discovering local cuisine means
discovering the spirit of the local inhabitants.”
– Umberto Eco
h On the Menu H
Infusing this journey with the richness of authentic Tuscany are just
a few flavorful ingredients: an historic wine estate, an insider’s pick of
experiences just for our small group, and warm encounters with skilled
Tuscans who share their favorite tastes and traditions of the region.
On exclusive small-group excursions,
cook with a Michelin-rated chef and at
the elbows of four “Tuscan Mammas,”
making ricotta and conjuring prized dishes.
Visit historic gems: the oldest winery in Italy; Etruscan ruins in Cortona; a mill where
olive oils are pressed the old way; and a
monastery that hosted St. Francis.
Visit hill towns with histories as
mesmerizing as their panoramic views;
admire Siena’s Gothic cathedral; and
savor Florence, seeing Michaelangelo’s
David at the Accademia.

• Six nights at our Tuscan
wine estate, and one night
in historic Florence
• Full guiding services of an
