It was taken by Ryan Scranton, Executive Director of the
Annapolis Heritage Society. Former curator at the Canadian Ski
Museum and a graduate of the Applied Museum Studies
Program at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology,
Ryan has been instrumental in presenting the heritage and beauty
of the Annapolis Royal Area through his stunning photography,
polished writing style and the many activities he coordinates for
the Annapolis Heritage Society.

“An Artfelt Christmas” is the
perfect theme as the region has
been steeped in rich artistic
tradition dating back over 10,000
years to the Mi’kmaq First Nations
people. The European influence
began over four centuries ago as the
Area became the seat of Canada’s
first enduring European settlement.
Today the Annapolis Royal
Area is home to numerous artists
involved in all of the arts
disciplines including visual arts,
crafts, performing arts and literary
arts. The region continues to evolve
and flourish attracting many
creative artists and art aficionados
of all ages.
ARCAC,the Annapolis
Region Community Arts Council,
is one of the Cultural Centres in the
province designated by Nova
Scotia Department of Tourism &
Culture. It helps coordinate arts
resources and operates ARTsPLACE,
an artist-run gallery, open year
