Pan American Musical Art Research, Inc. (PAMAR) is one of the leading Latin
cultural institutions in the United States. PAMAR is a 501(c 3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote knowledge, understanding and cooperation among
the various cultures of the Americas through constant and dynamic exchanges.
Founded in 1984 in New York City by Uruguayan born pianist Polly Ferman,
PAMAR has taken significant steps toward establishing itself as an artistic resource
center. PAMAR promotes a better knowledge, understanding and coexistence between
the various cultures and countries of the Americas, primarily through the exchange of
cultural experiences and educational programs. Through those programs, PAMAR
reaches out to people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities to spread awareness of
the richness of the cultures of Latin America. The Latin American Cultural Week in
New York (LACW) is PAMAR’s main and most ambitious project.
Launched in November 2006, Latin American Cultural Week (LACW) in New York
is an annual, city-wide event whose goal is to share the richness of Latin American
culture with the entire New York community. Partnering with organizations and artists
throughout all five boroughs, our goal is to present the highest quality art and artists to
the broadest cross-section of the community. The LACW provides a platform for
increased visibility and recognition for Latin-American and Spanish artistry as well as
to encourage people of all ethnic backgrounds to respect and recognize the unique
talents and treasures that every culture has to offer. Most of the festival events have free
admission making it accessible to all.
