Collaborative Engagement
March 26, 2012
Dr. Stan Vittetoe, Provost, St. Petersburg College, Clearwater
Campus: “One morning several of us met for coffee. We realized that
the college, the state of Florida and the community had some gaps in
providing for our veterans. We thought, if we got together, we could
identify and look at initiatives for moving forward... I’m very grateful
for what the veterans have done for me and my family and I’m
anxious to treat them right. “
Jeff Cavanagh (Cdr, USN, Ret.), Coordinator, Veteran Affairs,
Academic and Student Services, St. Petersburg College: “Vets are
coming back and want to use their educational benefits. Over the
next 2 to 4 years the DOD, military and VA are putting out
numbers that haven’t been seen since the 1990’s... We need to get
prepared… I just got back from Georgia with the regional
processing up there and these young men and women need help in
every area… I want to connect all of us together, because that’s
what’s been so successful at SPC... Once you put the veterans
together, that unit mentality takes over. We work to succeed.
