Chatterbox October 2014
Fall is now here and another time of change is
upon us, the leaves will be soon changing colors and falling to the ground, and we will have to change our clocks
back an hour.
We just had the Installation where new Grand
Knight Lou Modini and his officers were officially sworn
in and that was a very nice event. Also the Patriots football season has begun and with that the members bar will
be opened for all the games this season, Opening a half
hour before the game and a half hour after at least if not
longer if there are other games. Bingo continues to be
doing very well, but like always we can use more help on
Thursday nights.
One of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the
council is the annual Tootsie Roll Drive Oct 10-13 but to
make the event a success we need our people to come
out and help us and raise the funds. So if you can give us
a couple hours during the weekend, we can use it. Contact an officer for more information.
Brandon and Stephanie (Carrabba) Flavin have completed their 2 month 3,888 mile cross country bike ride/
honeymoon to raise money for MS. I am sure PGK Frank
Carrabba is glad to have them back on the east coast,
Congrats to Past Grand Knights Dave Solimine Jr.
and Sr. on the engagement of their son and grandson
Joel Solimine to Deena Cole.
The Cell Phone Tower at the council is still progressing, brother Tom Donato recently met with an archaeologist and there was no issues found with the site.
It was good to see PGK Arthur Hrubes at the recent first
degree held in Nahant, where he was sponsoring a new
member.
Thanks to the Nahant council for hosting the degree team at the first degree and thanks to their Grand
Knight and Insurance Agent for their hospitality and
friendship.
We are having a First Degree on October 14th
here at our council, so if you have any perspective new
members get the application in by the October business
meeting, and I hope we have a good showing of Brothers
at the degree.
In addition to the Installation the month of September also saw a spaghetti dinner on Sept 24 held upstairs and it was a nice evening of good company and
wonderful food.
Upcoming social events include Italian Night on
October 25th, tickets are $23, it is always a good time see
Salvy or Bill for tickets.
Also coming up on Nov 2nd is the annual Ladies
Auxiliary Tailgate Party for the football game at 4:30 and
doors will be open at 3, this is one of the best events of
the year so don’t miss this.
It was very sad to hear about the passing of Omer
Leblanc, he along with his brother Joe were staples down
in the members quarters on Friday Nights, my condolences go out to Joe, the Leblanc family and all those who
knew him.
Jack Reynolds is in Salem Hospital after a recent
illness, hope he gets well soon.
A busy time recently for the Aylward Family, Scott Aylward married Amy Peterson on Aug 30 and his parents
PGK Tom and Kathy Aylward celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on Sept 5th.
Another wedding will be held on Oct 12 between
Danny Thompson and Terri Phelps the Daughter of PGK
Mike and Peggy Phelps and that concludes what has
been a very busy last few months for the family with several weddings.
Work on the council website www.LynnKofC.org is
ongoing and hopefully soon we will have a new page for
all to enjoy.
On Sept 19th we had another successful pool tournament
where Mike Molligi got on a roll and was right on cue and
became champion, The next tournament will be held on
Oct 3rd and it is $10 to enter. Mike Molligi is looking for
more King of Hill challengers so we can raise funds for the
billiards equipment.
PGK David Solimine Sr, who recently celebrated
th
his 79 Birthday, and his wife Mary Jane were honored to
have provided and planted the Pastel Wave Petunias for
the right to live monument in honor of the victims of
abortion. Check out the Chrysanthemums this fall.
We spied the Pope’s right hand man Cardinal
Sean during the council’s annual boys night out trip to the
North End led by Tom Donato. He was observed eating at
Mamma Maria’s on North Square on the Feast of the Assumption evening. His Eminence had just celebrated
mass at St Leonard’s and was enjoying dinner with several of his fellow Capuchins.
Prayers for Kenneth Rhodes and Joseph Beaton
for a speedy recovery after recent ailments.
