Membership
You are not a member of a gym when you join the Y;
you are a member of a family. Y members receive full
access to ALL facility amenities including group exercise
classes, Child Watch and Kid’s Clubhouse, discounts on
classes and programs with a fee.
A Metro membership allows you to use any Y
membership facility within the association. A Branch
membership allows access to the specific branch you
join and are available at 7 locations.
Volunteer Opportunities
When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in
bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in
your own neighborhood. Volunteer opportunities are
available at most Y facilities and can be found online at
www.thefamilyy.org. We take an active effort to protect
the vulnerable populations served at the Family Y.
A volunteer application process, including a background
check and drug test, must be completed before service
can begin. Please allow two weeks for the application
process to be completed. For more information, contact
Donna Alberson at 706 922 9612.
Heritage Club
Just as we strengthen minds and bodies today, the
Family Y is strengthening our organization for
tomorrow. The Family Y’s Endowment Fund is critical to
ensuring that the work of the Y continues for children
and families for generations to come. If you are
interested in joining the Family Y’s Heritage Club,
contact the Endowment Director at 706 922 9130.
Find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
Annual Campaign
Our Annual Campaign provides assistance to help
individuals and families in need who would otherwise be
unable to afford to be part of the Y. Your financial
contribution helps the Y welcome everyone, regardless
of their ability to pay. One-hundred percent of your
contribution provides scholarships in your community.
To make an impact, contact the Development Director at
706 922 9663.

Dear Family Y Friends,
Great things are happening at your Family Y this time of the year! We have some
exciting projects that will soon get underway that will make our community stronger
and healthier.
First, I’d like to welcome a new community to our Family YMCA family. Our new
Barnwell County Family YMCA opens in January and will serve Barnwell and its
surrounding communities. We look forward to lives being strengthened as we
introduce traditional Y programs and get to know the community. This new facility
becomes our tenth Family Y family and wellness center in the CSRA.
In Thomson, 2015 will be an exciting year of preparing to move across the street to
our new location in the University Hospital McDuffie. Once the hospital relocates
to its new facility, we will begin renovation on the current campus to become a
regional Family YMCA in partnership with several agencies who have helped to make this project a reality.
Our plan to renovate Camp Lakeside is making progress. In partnership with the Children’s Hospital of
Georgia, we will begin construction early this year to create a medically-safe camp home for CHOG summer
camps for children with special needs and life-threatening illnesses. Fundraising continues for this project
that we trust will create life-long memories for both able-bodied and special needs children from our region
for generations to come. The Camp Lakeside project exemplifies our commitment to inclusion in all program
areas.
Finally, our members are our greatest partners in our efforts to make the Family YMCA accessible and open
to all, regardless of their circumstances. I want to thank you for your support of our Annual Campaign, our
fundraiser that allows us to provide financial assistance to those unable to afford our programs. Your
generosity means that hundreds of low-income children and families have life-changing experiences thanks to
our scholarship program. When you support the Y through membership and financial support, you join
thousands of others dedicated to strengthening our community, one person at a time. Thank you.
See you at your Y!
