FROM THE FREEHOLDER CHAIRMAN
CHRISTOPHER HUDAK
Welcome to the second annual Union County Women
Mean Business Summit. Our first Summit, held last June,
received a rousing response and this year we have aimed to
offer an even more rewarding experience.
The first Summit was initiated by Freeholder Linda
Carter in 2013 to provide the working women of Union County
with a forum for exploring their needs, to find issues of
common ground, and to support the full economic participation
of women in our County.
This year we continue to expand on that theme with
topics that range from basic finances and organizational
strategies to the rise of crowd funding and the power of giving
back.
In addition to enjoying our workshops and our keynote speaker, Jill Johnson, I
also encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities you will have today to meet
and network with your peers from all over the County.
I hope that the insights you gain from today’s events prove fruitful to your
endeavors this year and into the future.
HOST COMMITTEE
This event would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire host committee.
Special acknowledgment should go to this group of exceptional women!

GIVING BACK AND MOVING FORWARD:
HOW VOLUNTEERISM CAN BOOST YOUR CAREER
RED KNOT
Presented by: Allison Jones, Editor at Idealist.org and Founder of Idealist Careers
People are buzzing about volunteering these days, and with good reason: Studies have shown
that volunteering strengthens communities, is good for your health—and can even help you
land a job. However, if you are a busy professional, it can be challenging to find an opportunity
that allows you to give back and move forward. In this session, participants will be given an
overview of different kinds of opportunities, what each one entails, and offer action tips on how
to get started.
