Congratulations on your decision to apply to Simmons as a Dorothea Lynde Dix Scholar. As one
of New England’s oldest, most successful undergraduate programs for women 24 years of age
and older, we o¤er you professional preparation with a foundation in the liberal arts. For more
than three decades, the undergraduate admission sta¤ has provided support and guidance to
women applying to Simmons to begin, complete, or supplement their undergraduate education.

A P P L I C AT I O N C H E C K L I S T
Please provide the following:
Interview: An interview is recommended for Dix Scholar
applicants. Please send or bring an oªcial copy of any
transcript(s) of previous college work with you so a preliminary evaluation of transfer credit may be made. If
you live some distance away, please call us if you would
like to arrange a phone interview.
Application Form: A completed and signed application form.
$55 Application Fee: A non-refundable $55 application fee
must be submitted along with your application form.

Statement of Purpose: See page two for description.
Official High School Transcripts: Oªcial high school tran-
scripts or GED scores are required. (Second baccalaureate degree candidates and those candidates with an
associate’s degree are exempt from this requirement.)
Official College Transcripts: Oªcial transcripts from all
previously attended institutions, if any, must bear the
college stamp and arrive in sealed envelopes. Contact
the Registrar at each college you have attended and
ask that an oªcial transcript be sent directly to the
Simmons College Oªce of Undergraduate Admission.
College or university transcripts from institutions outside the U.S. must be oªcially translated and evaluated

Recommendation(s): Two recommendations are required.
Academic recommendations are preferred.
Résumé: Recommended for all applicants.
NURSING APPLICANTS
Nursing License: Registered nurses applying for the
R.N.–B.S.N. degree completion program are required
to submit a copy of the registered nursing license.
SAT or ACT Information: Nursing applicants must submit
either oªcial SAT or ACT scores. Second baccalaureate
degree candidates are exempt from this requirement.
Deadlines: Nursing applicants should be aware that
spaces for an upcoming start-term may be filled well
before the official application deadline.
TUITION DEPOSIT
Once you are admitted to Simmons College, a nonrefundable tuition deposit of $250 is required. This
deposit is your first payment toward tuition. If you are
interested in on-campus housing, an additional $250
deposit and a housing application is required.
FINANCIAL AID
All degree-seeking Dix Scholars are eligible for the Dix
Scholarship. Simmons also o¤ers financial aid through
grants, loans, and part-time employment. To be considered for financial aid, you must be a U.S. citizen or
permanent resident. Applying for financial aid will have
no bearing on your admission to the College. If you
are interested in applying for aid, you should apply
simultaneously with your application for admission.

Test Scores: If English is not your native language a TOEFL,
IELTS, or comparable test score is required.
Financial Support: Evidence of financial support is
required of applicants who are not U.S. citizens or
permanent residents.
Resident Alien Card: A copy of the Resident Alien card
is required of applicants who are permanent residents.
Application Deadlines: The application deadlines are as
follows: Spring December 1, Summer April 1, Fall July 1
