This bar features a two-edged sword facing upright with the hilt at the bottom as though ready for battle. The two-edged sword signifies both the Apostle Paul, preacher of The Word, and the Diocese of Yakima 's Cathedral Church which is named after him. The bar with wavy edges represents the Columbia River.
