The 23rd Annual Brennan Award
Each year, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco bestows the Frank Brennan Award to honor individuals whose personal actions have had an extraordinary impact on those in need in our city. The funds
raised by the Brennan Award provide crucial support for our programs, and enable our mission to offer
hope and service on a direct person-to-person basis, working to break the cycles of homelessness and
domestic violence.

THE 23RD ANNUAL
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco is proud to observe 156 years of helping
people overcome poverty, homelessness, addiction and domestic violence in our City.
Since 1860, the Society has quietly and consistently provided food, shelter, clothing and
support services for those in need.
Sponsorship Proceeds Benefit:
Multi-Service Center South
Our Multi-Service Center South (MSC) is the largest single-adult homeless shelter in Northern California
and a recognized leader in caring for individuals who are experiencing homelessness. For 365 days a year, 24
hours a day, MSC provides shelter, meals, and various supportive services to 340 homeless men and women.
MSC is committed to providing someone who is homeless with the tools and resources needed for building a
healthier life. Not only does the shelter provide a safe place to eat and sleep, the services at MSC also include
medical exams, employment support, education, mental health case management, housing assistance, a
library and computer lab, and showers and laundry facilities.
The MSC also provides a Drop-In Resource Center that provides chairs and services to up to seventy-five men
and women 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
With a dedicated staff and a steady volunteer base, we inspire hope to those who come to MSC, helping them
move forward into lives that are more meaningful and productive.

THE 23RD ANNUAL
The Riley Center
From the point of crisis to achieving self-sufficiency, the Riley Center: Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence offers safe refuge and peer-based
services to women, along with their children, who are looking to escape
and heal from the emotional and physical damage of domestic violence.
The Riley Center has two residential programs, Rosalie House and
Brennan House. Rosalie House is a twenty-six bed emergency shelter, one
of only three in San Francisco, where women can find temporary housing
for up to twelve weeks. In addition to providing shelter, meals, and clothing, Rosalie House offers safety planning, individual counseling, support
groups, case management, parenting groups, legal assistance, employment
and education referrals, and referrals to housing.
Brennan House is a thirty-one bed transitional housing program that
provides shelters for women and their children for up to eighteen months.
Women at Brennan House have the opportunity to continue their healing
process with ongoing support, and are given time to focus on the steps
needed to obtain emotional and financial self-sufficiency.
The Riley Center has a drop-in Community Office that offers case
management, support groups, education, and follow-up support to former
shelter residents free of charge.
Pier 80 Shelter
This is a 180 bed temporary shelter that has been praised
by journalists for offering crucial services to San Francisco’s
homeless during recent periods of severe weather.
Pier 80 is different from other shelters because it allows residents to stay with their partners and pets, and has a storage
space for their possessions.
