I would like to warmly welcome
each and every one of you to Sure
Run to the Beat 2015. This year
marks the 8th year of Sure Run to
the Beat and I would like to thank
everyone that is involved in making
it a huge success. Sure Run to the
Beat is London’s only music 10k and
is unlike any event you will have
ever experienced – so have fun!
SPONSORS
The event would not be
possible without the help
and support from the
following, to whom we
offer special thanks:
Whether you are a first time runner
or a seasoned competitor, Sure
Run to the Beat has something for
everyone with a passion for running
or music. It is a unique course that is
constantly evolving in all areas and
the 2015 event is no exception to
this. This year we have introduced
four new experiential music zones to
the course. Each with its own theme
and live DJ, these zones will excite,
inspire and energize you as you
make your way around the course.
Along-side the zones, we have
partnered with music app giant
Deezer to create a series of
playlists, designed specifically to
enhance your running performance.
These playlists are provided not
only to help you whilst you train, but
also to motivate you in-between the
music zones. If you haven’t already
done so, make sure you check out
the Sure Run to the Beat profile
on Deezer and download these
playlists via the Deezer app.
MEDIA Partners:
This Race Information contains all
of the information you will need to
help you arrive fully prepared for
your race, starting and finishing in
Wembley Park. I encourage you to
read and re-read this information
as it should answer all the questions
you have. The Sure Run to the Beat
team are inundated with emails
and phone calls in the build-up
to the event with questions that
are answered within this Race
Information, so please take a few
moments to read it carefully and
save yourself a phone call.
For many of you this event is not just
about a great run to some fantastic
music, it is also a chance to raise
significant amounts of money for
some great causes. Sure Run to the
Beat is honoured to have so many
charities associated with the event
and I would like to thank all of them
for their valued support. Also a
special thank you to our gold charity
Bloodwise (previously known as
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research),
who raise hundreds of thousands of
pounds from those of you who Run to
the Beat on their behalf. The money
helps them continue their life-saving
research and provide support services
for people with blood cancer. Sure
Run to the Beat raises over £500,000
for different causes/charities annually
and one of our core aims is to
increase this figure year on year.
Finally, none of this would be
possible without the support of our
title sponsor Sure, whose incredible
passion for the event has helped
shape it into what it is today. I would
also like to welcome on board our
new associate sponsors Brooks,
TomTom and ERDINGER Alkoholfrei
and partner Popchips. We are
extremely pleased to align our event
alongside these fantastic brands as
well as Virgin Money Giving who
are returning for the 2015 event.
I would also like to thank Wembley
Park and Brent Council for having
us back for another year, and of
course much appreciation goes to
the residents and businesses’ of
Brent for graciously coming out to
support the event each year.
I wish you the very best of luck with
your final preparations and look
forward to seeing you at the start line,
for what is set to be a great event.

Medical advice
Medical problems
Discuss any medical problems with
your GP before competing in the
10k. This advice is in addition to
anything that your GP says.
ON THE DAY
Do not compete if you feel unwell or
have recently been unwell.
This advice applies even if you are
raising money for charity. If you feel
feverish, have been vomiting, have
had diarrhoea or any chest pains
DO NOT RACE! A large number
of medical emergencies occur in
people who have been unwell
but do not want to miss out on the
event. If the weather on race-day is
warm or humid do not try for a PB,
take it easy and enjoy the day. Heat
related problems are common, even
in a 10k.
HYDRATION –
DRINKING SAFELY
FIRST AID AND
MEDICAL CARE
Sensible fluid intake is necessary for
a 10k. Drinking too much (“overhydration”) can be harmful. It’s
worth experimenting with hydration
strategies to see what works best
for you. You’ll get a feel for your
sweat rate, which will help you
understand your body and fine tune
your hydration routine. A sensible
approach would be to start the
race adequately hydrated (but
not over-hydrated) and then drink
small amounts as your thirst dictates
throughout the race. As always
moderation is key, so there is no
need to aggressively consume fluid
(whether water OR sports drinks)
before, during or after the race.
There are first aid stations at several
points along the route as well as at
the Finish. If you feel unwell please
contact a member of the medical
team.
There are two water stations en
route.
Water and Erdinger Alkoholfrei
are available at the Finish.
EVENT VILLAGE
The Event Village is in the Green
Car Park of Wembley Park and we
have the following facilities:
Toilets
Bag Drop
Please remember to bring your
luggage label with your race
number on it. When you arrive at
the Baggage Marquee, look for
the table that relates to your race
number and hand your bag in.
You will need your race number
when you finish in order to collect
your bag.
Start
Finish
The Start Line is on Engineers Way.
For runners in the Red pen you
access your start pen via Wembley
Park Boulevard. For runners in the
Green pen you access your start
pen via Olympic Way. For runners
in the Pink and Black pen please
access the Start Line directly via
Engineers Way.
The Finish is located in the Green
Car Park. When you cross the Finish
Line you will receive a medal, an
Erdinger Alkoholfrei and a bottle
of water. You can then enjoy all
the artists on the main stage in the
Festival Village, pick up your bags
at the baggage marquee, enjoy
our catering concessions dotted
around the venue or visit the London
Designer Outlet.
The Course
The race will be run on closed
roads, please stick to the roads and
don’t cut over onto the pavement.
There will be two water stops on
route, one at 4km and one at 7km.
As you can see by the profile on
page 9 there are some hills at
just over half way, so don’t go off
too hard.
Food
There will be a variety of food stalls
in the Festival Village.
