Product structure
The structure of Duropal-XTreme hardly differs from that of a normal HPL.
The product is produced analogue to DIN EN 483.
The most significant change is the exchange of the overlay against a
functional layer hardened using electronic beams (ESH).
This substitution not only means that decors become more intense or get higher colour depth, but also
awards the product also valuable additional properties.

Chemical resistance
XTreme reacts with many chemicals much more sensitively than a usual HPL.
In the following pictures you see the reactions to different chemicals of a standard HPL and
XTreme in direct comparison.
Each picture shows two reactions to a chemical.
The left reaction arose through a test with cover of a watchglass, the right one arose through the same test, however without cover.

Cleaning properties
One of the main benefits of XTreme is the clearly improved cleaning property.
Not only everyday pollution like coffee, but also rougher contamination by grease can easily be removed
with a simple cotton cloth and hot clear water.
The following test clearly demonstrates this.
Here a Duropal HPL-XTreme has been contami-
nated with a well known very fatty face cream.
The cream was removed absolutely residue-free
and without leaving a film, as described above, with
a cotton cloth and warm clear water.

Cleaning recommendation
Basic cleaning
The basic cleaning of Duropal-HPL XTreme is normally done by the regular use of a solvent consisting of
hot water and commercial detergents or alternatively also degreasing all purpose cleaners.
For stubborn soiling, the cleaning solution should be allowed to react.
Afterwards the moist surface needs to be dried with hot, clear water until all residues of the cleaning agent
have been removed. Use a dry lint-free cloth to rub dry in "decor direction" or uniformly in one direction in
order to avoid streaking. The cleaning with micro fiber cloths (dry or humid) didn’t show any surface injury.

Intensive cleaning
If after the primary cleaning there are still any residues remaining on the surface, we recommend an
intensive cleaning always following the manufacturer's instructions.
This is done with a standard cleaning detergent, appropriate for plastic surfaces.
Best cleaning results have been achieved with:
Henkel – Sidol-Küchenkraft and cleaning agents for synthetic material
MELLERUD – kitchen grease remover
P&G – Meister Proper Küche
Ostermann - FSG-cleaning agent for synthetic material, type DN
With old or intensive dirt ,
the repetition of the same procedure may be necessary.

XTremely simple - cleaning and application
Processing recommendation
Duropal-HPL XTreme, a surface material appropriate for surface and edge applications
which may be processed vertically as well as horizontally.
All processing instructions and safety rules you may know from normal Duropal products
must be observed.
Identical machines and tools are also appropriate for processing.
Please note that depending on the field of application, the conditions of space lighting and the
corresponding decor, optical impairments may occur due to a low surface orientation.
To avoid any possible aesthetic and optical impairments, the orientation of the boards specified on the
protection film of the product must strictly be followed, especially for large-surface applications.
Such impairments do not constitute defects.

 The condition of the tools is decisive for the results!
to improve the results of the cutting edge at the bottom of the plate, we recommend the use of a scoring unit.
recommendation: Sawing blades with alternate tooth, tripple-chip flat tooth at 4,000 rpm
Drilling

HM drills for plastic processing must be used with centring tip and point angle of 50 – 60°.
for through holes and blind holes a low feed speed should be chosen
due to the material used, a flare effect is achieved at the hole wall by drilling Duropal-HPL XTreme.
this property has no influence on the surface structure
the flare-effect can be reduced by the reduction of the entering speed.

Please note that XTreme can already be postformed at much lower temperatures.
