Mercy
Dec. 8, 2015 - Nov. 20, 2016
For the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Bishop Jaime Soto has designated
12 Pilgrimage sites. Paired with the sites is either a Corporal or
Spiritual Work of Mercy. Partial and plenary indulgences can be
earned for both pilgrimage and/or practice.
March 2016 - Work of Mercy of the Month:
CLOTHE THE NAKED, FEED THE HUNGRY and VISIT THE IMPRISONED
Sponsored by: Angels of Mercy Ministry, CIA Youth Group,
Knights of Columbus and Columbian Squires

March 26 - Annual Holy Saturday Pilgrimage with Bishop Soto
Pope Francis summarizes the questions to ask ourselves:
About myself









Am I a believer who is somewhat worldly and only somewhat believing?
Do I overindulge in eating, drinking, smoking, or being entertained?
Am I overly concerned about my physical well-being and my possessions?
How I do use my time?
Am I lazy?
Do I desire to be served?
Do I love and safeguard purity in my heart, thoughts, and deeds?
Do I plot vengeance or harbor resentments?
Am I gentle and humble? A peacemaker?
Now I can examine myself about the concrete actions that mercy
requires and by which we will be judged:










Have I given food to the hungry and drink to the thirsty?
Have I welcomed the stranger and clothed the naked?
Have I set aside time and had the courage to visit the sick and the imprisoned?
Have I helped anyone be released from doubts that make him or her fearful
and that are often the source of loneliness?
Have I participated in overcoming ignorance by supporting education,
especially for the young?
Have I told those who live in sin about the need for conversion?
Have I been a neighbor to someone who is lonely and afflicted?
Have I forgiven those who offend me and resisted every kind of resentment
and hate?
Have I been patient with others based on the example of God who is so
patient with us?
Have I commended my brothers and sisters to prayer?

at Divine Mercy? Yes, during this Holy Year of Mercy, there is

What do I do at Pilgrimage Site?
Walk through the Holy Door of Mercy, spend
some time with our Lord and pray:
 The Apostle’s Creed
 The Our Father
 The Hail Mary
 The Jubilee Year of Mercy prayer
 Pray for the Holy Father and his
intentions for the month.
Questions to ponder this week:
Adult: Like the younger son, when have you
been lost and were found by the merciful
and compassionate Father who loves you?
Youth: What are some ways people have
been merciful and forgiving toward you?
How can you practice forgiving others?
The Holy Father’s Intention for March
 Universal: Families in Difficulty
That families in need may receive the
necessary support and that children may grow
up in healthy and peaceful environments.
 Evangelization: Persecuted Christians
That those Christians who, on account of their
faith, are discriminated against or are being
persecuted, may remain strong and faithful to
the Gospel, thanks to the incessant prayer of
the Church.

CIA is a community of youth who desire to
become closer to God by living the faith
through prayer, study and service. “We put
these works into action.”
We are the Youth of Divine Mercy Parish who are committed
to be faithful to the Catholic Church’s teachings, and her
traditions. We evangelize by living as the hands and feet of
Jesus Christ and are inspired by His Love and friendship, and
we want to be with other youths that share the same values
that we have. Changing the world for the Lord is one of our
goals, and the Holy Spirit is working with us. We are
committed to practice The Corporal and Spiritual Works of
Mercy along with Social Justice, Leadership, and Liturgy. We
are diverse, talented, friendly, welcoming, and sometimes
shy but an intelligent group of Youth. This is the digital/
technology age; we text, Tweet, Instagram and Snapchat. We
have a greater capacity to multitask with our Blessed Mother
Mary to guide us.

Divine Mercy. Learn what led to St. Faustina’s push for

how history and the works of several Saints who listened
and followed Mother Mary and their visions of Jesus Christ
brought Divine Mercy up in time for St. John Paul II to
declare it’s feast day. We will view two sessions per class of

chosen to play such an important part.

be added to the list. It’s called THE YOUNG MESSIAH.
About the film:
Remaining true to the character of Jesus revealed in the
Bible, The Young Messiah is an inspirational story for the
whole family about the childhood of the Savior. Follow the
young Messiah as He and His family take the dangerous
journey from Egypt to Nazareth and on to Jerusalem, where
His true identity and profound destiny are fulfilled.

Sacred Heart & Divine Mercy Devotions Ministry
Do You Believe in Hell?
This Lenten season of the Holy Year of Mercy, let
us contemplate on the Diary of St. Faustina # 741.
Let us pray for the conversion of sinners during
this time of great mercy, before the second coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ…the time of final judgement.
741 Today, I was led by an Angel to the chasms of hell. It is
a place of great torture; how awesomely large and extensive it
is! The kinds of tortures I saw: the first torture that
constitutes hell is the loss of God; the second is perpetual
remorse of conscience; the third is that one’s condition will
never change; (160) the fourth is the fire that will penetrate
the soul without destroying it - a terrible suffering, since it is a
purely spiritual fire, lit by God’s anger; the fifth torture is
continual darkness and a terrible suffocating smell, and,
despite the darkness, the devils and the souls of the dammed
see each other and all the evil, both of others and their own;
the sixth torture is the constant company of Satan; the
seventh torture is horrible despair, hatred of God, vile words,
curses and blasphemies. These are the tortures suffered by all
the dammed together, but that is not the end of the
sufferings. There are special tortures destined for particular
souls. There are the torments of the senses. Each soul
undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings, related to the
manner in which it has sinned. There are caverns and pits of
torture where one form of agony differs from another. I
would have died at the very sight of these tortures if the
omnipotence of God had not supported me. Let the sinner
know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those
senses which he made use of to sin. (161) I am writing this at
the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by
saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there,
and so no one can say what it is like.
Beloved is a Young Adult Ministry at Divine Mercy Catholic
Church for young adults between 18-39. Our mission is to
provide a safe place where young adults can come together
to grow in faith and friendship; to encourage and support
young adults to explore their faith and develop their spirituality
by catering to the needs and issues of each individual through
faith sharing, community service, and fellowship.

Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of mankind and author
of peace, as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the
liberty we possess, we ask you to bless the members of our
armed forces. Give them courage, hope and strength. May
they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and
compassionate healing. Be their power and protector,
leading them from darkness to light. To you be all glory,
honor and praise, now and forever. Amen.

The CHRISM MASS is one of the most important and most beautiful
Liturgies in the Church. At this Mass the Bishop blesses the HOLY
OILS that will be used in sacramental celebrations throughout the
Diocese for the coming year.
6:00 PM
Thursday, March 17, 2016
Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament
11th & k, Sacramento
Also at this Mass the priests of the diocese renew their commitment
to priestly service. The Chrism Mass is a reminder that we are a
priestly people, called to proclaim the gospel in accordance with the
sacraments we have received.
THE CHRISM MASS is a wonderful expression of the entire
Sacramento Diocese. You are cordially invited to join Bishop Soto,
the priests of the diocese and your Catholic brothers and sisters as
we pray for God’s continued blessings on the Church of Sacramento.
