SUCCESS STORY - MELISSA REED
After hitting 40 and with two young kids, I was feeling a
bit run down and out of shape. Since starting my
workouts with MOTIVATORS™ Suzana and Shana just
two months ago I already have more energy, feel
stronger and can see results. I’m not a gym person at all.
But the vibe here is friendly and fun. I’m all in and couldn’t
be happier that I decided to use my complimentary
MOTIVATORTM training session.

behind. Additionally, the GolfShop will be making more

STARTING JANUARY 2016
BUNKER IMPROVEMENT
PLAN
Valley Crest, our top golf club maintenance
company, has begun the four-phase bunker
complete as the bunkers in the Dave Pelz
designed Short Game Practice area faces
were repaired and the sand was replaced
with a blend of 75% August White and 25%
Desert Sand, which is the same sand used at
Wilshire and Oakmont Country Clubs. The
second phase will focus on the green side
bunkers that are most in need of attention.
IMPROVING THE
FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH
In January, a tree service company will
be on site for thirteen days. As sunlight
and water are the fundamental
ingredients to photosynthesis and
plant growth, this tree trimming
program is designed to strategically
increase the amount of sunlight to
overly shaded playing areas. We will
be highlighting our specimen trees,
most notably the California Oaks,
and restore original hole design
layouts by select tree removals.
DID YOU KNOW?
Your Golf Superintendent, Nick
Hoisington, served as the number
two at Bel-Air Country Club before
arriving to CCC. Brian Sullivan,

Nick is the best he has ever worked with.
18th Hole
NEW BRIDGE
The wood bridge on the 16th Hole will
be replaced with a bridge that is consistent
with the motif of the wall and bridge on
the recently renovated 18th Green.
Work will start on January 11th.

NC: You have a very optimistic outlook on life. What is your secret?
BR: Take it and fake it until you make it. In 1943, when soloed on my way
opportunity and my life was never the same. I was certain I could conquer
anything I went after, and would try for things that I loved so much I would do
them for nothing.
NC: I understand that Mel Brooks was originally selected to co-write the
screenplay with you for “The Ladies Man”
BR: Yes, but every time we gave Jerry Lewis our scripts he was too busy to
read them. Egos got in the way and Mel walked out leaving me to write the
screenplay.
NC: You loved Jazz and upon arrival in Los Angeles from Rockford, Illinois it
wasn’t long before you worked for 15 years in big name bands for singers like
BR: Yes, I rent a studio here in Calabasas where I play jam sessions.

NC: You wrote many top rated TV comedies. Among them were Carol Burnett
and Laugh In. Which did you enjoy the most?
BR: The Carol Burnett Show was my favorite. We had fun and Carol often
said she couldn’t believe she got paid for what she did. She would do it for
nothing. Hmmmmm. Heard that before some place.
NC: Your fellow Club members are proud to have you as a member. You have
been coming here since 2004. What is it that you love about the Club?
