Final Proposal
Location
1. Maximize the views to the City of Ottawa and Gatineau Hills.
2. Achieve the aperture of views by cutting down the existing parapet to the
floor and slopping the ceiling to maximize the glazing.
3. Present a clear framed “Window” to the City.
4. Respect the Capital Illumination Plan by presenting an addition which is
somber at night.
5. Provide a celebratory space for the 150th Anniversary of Canada.

Recommendations
• THAT final Federal Design Approval be granted for the Addition
to the 22nd Floor of the Ottawa Westin Hotel.
• THAT the approval for additional height be amended such that
the new top of roof height will be +131.400 m above sea level,
rather than the top of parapet, as was approved at Concept
Approval in June 2015.
• THAT the preparation and signature of the Federal Design
Approval document associated with this submission be delegated
to the Executive Director, Capital Planning Branch.
