Thank you
“He said to them, ‘The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few…’”
Luke 10:2
As Catholics we are all called to serve in ministry. However, many of us are unsure
how to use our talents and gifts to build God’s Church. Talk to God and ask Him
what He wants you to do. The next time one of your fellow parishioners asks you
to help or join a committee, it may be the answer to your prayer.

IHM Events & This Week at IHM
SAVE THE DATE!!
Healthy Haughville is back again this summer, and we would love
your help! The event this year is on Saturday, July 16th, from 911:30 a.m. This is a great way to connect with the communities
of both St. Anthony and Haughville by helping with health
screenings, passing out school supplies, books and lots more. If
you’ve helped in the past, we’d love to see you again, if you haven’t been able to, we would love to have you! And of course, there
will be an opportunity to donate school supplies and hygiene
products that will be passed out at the health fair. Please email
Sheila McNelis [email protected] or Jennifer Kappes [email protected] with any questions or to volunteer. We are looking forward to another successful health fair!
Help Us Fill the Packs for St. Anthony
Students
This summer, IHM is going all out to help kids from St. Anthony be ready for school! Help us fill as many backpacks as we
can for the students. Pick up a tag for a St. Anthony student on the board at the front of the Church. Purchase the
items listed on the tag and return by Sunday, July 10th to the
designated bins located in the Church entryway off of Central Avenue. On Saturday, July 16th, we will distribute these during our annual outreach day, Healthy Haughville. This initiative will
ensure the students arrive at school with a full backpack. Thanks
in advance for your generous support! Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
Honduras Alums:
Our Honduran host, Mae, will be celebrating her 70th birthday in
August. We are gathering cards, notes and photos to make a
scrapbook for her to SURPRISE her with. We want to let her
know how deeply she is loved and remembered by so many people. You can place the cards/photos in the box in the back of
church or you can email Lauren at [email protected]. Or
mail notes/photos: Ellie Dedinsky, Attn: FHC, 4015 Ruckle
Street Indianapolis, IN 46205. Please send by July 15th.
Opportunity to Serve
Are you good with numbers? Are you organized?
Would you like to give back to the church?
We are looking for one individual to help count the Sunday
church collection. The time commitment is about 2 hours once
every 5 weeks. Counters are in teams of 2. If you are interested
please contact Roland Bydlon at [email protected] or 812318-3095
Boulevard Place Food Pantry
We have been a generous parish!
This pantry needs your help to keep it stocked each
month.
Please take a bag and bring food each month to share with your
neighbors in food poverty! Bags are passed out after Mass on the
3rd Sunday of the month.
The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with
the poor.

Youth Ministry News
Confirmation
Registration is now online at www.ihmindy.org to register for the Confirmation Program starting September 18. Just click on Sacraments or
Youth Ministry/Confirmation to register. Teens in sophomore year
and above who have not been Confirmed are invited to learn more
about their faith. More information on the program is on the website. Please register by August 31st so we have enough supplies.
Also:
The Youth Ministry Office is looking for adults to help out with programming over the next year. If you love working with teens, we can
use your help with the Confirmation Program (sophomores), Freshman group nights, Jr. High activities, and service loving adults who
would take a group of Jr. High teens down to Anna's House one Saturday a month. There are specific job descriptions on the Youth Board
New Blessings Ministry
The New Blessings Ministry provides meals to
families within the parish who are welcoming a
new child. You can help us by contacting us if
you’re expecting a new addition or know
someone who is. A volunteer or two will contact the family to
make arrangements to each deliver a meal to them at their
home. Also, the ministry would love additional volunteers to
prepare and deliver meals.
Please contact [email protected].
Outreach Corner
Spiritual Retreat offered for the Poor
In his encyclical, “The Joy of the Gospel,” Pope Francis states
that “the greatest discrimination that the poor suffer is lack of
spiritual care.” The Indianapolis Archdiocese has a program to
help address this important issue. It is called the Ignatian Spirituality Project, established in Indy in 2014. It is being offered
five times in 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House. Sister
Connie Kramer, S.P., is the leader of this ministry.
The program offers an overnight retreat to homeless persons
identified by directors of local shelter housing who have begun a
recovery program from addiction, are using a 12-step spirituality
program with a sponsor to assist them in their recovery, and
who directors believe are ready to benefit from an overnight
retreat experience. To date, it has been very easy to identify such
persons. All retreats are funded by donations made to the
Fatima Genesis Fund, which assists person unable to cover the
full cost of Fatima programs they wish to attend. All involved in
this ministry are volunteers. If you are interested in more information about this ministry, contact Sister Connie at
[email protected].

part of the formation of our teens, please call or email Joan at 2572266 or [email protected]. Thanks!

fare, and water and snack on way home. See flier for more information. Deadline June 16. After that, you will be on a waiting list.

Growing in the Faith
July Prayer Intentions
2016 July Prayer Intentions of Pope Francis are… Universal ~ Indigenous Peoples: That the indigenous peoples,
whose identity and very existence are threatened, will be
shown due respect. Evangelization ~ Latin America and
the Caribbean : That the Church in Latin America and the Caribbean, by means of her mission to the continent, may announce the gospel with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
Sunday Family Faith
Sunday Family Faith (aka SFF)
offers three programs for children
and it now has a name for each of
the three which resume this coming
2016-2017 school year. The winning
name for the 3rd or 4th through 8th
grade Sunday program is GIFT
which stands for Growing In Faith Together. The
other two programs are: CLOW which is an acronym for
Children’s Liturgy of the Word offered for children during the 9:30 Mass. CGS which stands for Catechesis of
the Good Shepherd is a Montessori based program for 4
year olds through 2nd or 3rd grade. (You read correctly.
Third grade is in flux.) There is a discussion about what is
best for 3rd graders. If you wish to participate in the discussion, email [email protected]. Note: The creative couple who came up with GIFT wish to remain
anonymous. They did accept the $25 gift card to Graters.
Catechists Needed & Training
Catechists and Catechist Assistants are needed for all the above
programs. Training for CLOW
catechist and catechist assistants
will be held on Saturday, August 6
at 9:30. CGS training begins the
weekend of Friday and Saturday,
August 12 & 13. For more information about each of
these trainings, log on to the parish website, click on
“Religious Education” found on the bar at the top of the
page, then click on “Sunday Family Faith”.
Or simply contact Therese for more information by email
[email protected] or 257-2266 x103.

for Eucharistic Adoration and prayer.
SAM at St. Joan of Arc
The Substance Abuse Ministry (SAM) meets at St. Joan of
Arc the third Thursday of each month at 6:15pm. This
North Deanery group is also pulling together a resource book
of services available throughout the city for people in need.
If interested in helping and/or attending the SAM ministry
group contact Therese.
Marriage Moments
Independence Day – How much independence is good in a
marriage? Certainly husband
and wife should be able to
stand on their own two feet
and not rely on their spouse
for identity and self-worth;
BUT interdependence is
better. What do you depend
on your spouse to do around the home?
Year of Mercy
Pope Francis continues to talk about mercy: “The
past few days I have been reading a book by
….Cardinal Kasper [who] said that mercy,…
changes everything. This is the best thing we can
feel…. A little mercy makes the world less cold and
more just. We need to understand properly this
mercy of God, this merciful Father who is so patient..… Let us remember the prophet Isaiah who says that
even if our sins were scarlet, God’s love would make them
white as snow. This mercy is beautiful.”
For Parents
Parenting Pointers – Summer is vacation time and often
that means travel. In addition to relatives, national parks, and monuments, consider visiting
a holy place. Of course any place can be holy
when looked at with eyes of faith, but also consider visiting a religious shrine or a different church.
