Substrate Porosity
Is your substrate porous?
10C
To determine if a substrate is considered
porous or non-porous; place a dime sized drop
of water on the substrate.
Non-Porous
The water drop will stay beaded up on the
surface for approximately 30 seconds.
Adhesive Properties
Transitional Pressure Sensitive
As a Transitional Pressure Sensitive ™ Adhesive, Taylor’s
Meta-Tec 2091 begins as a high peel strength pressure
sensitive adhesive to help keep tile and plank lying flat
and avoid curling edges. The flooring can be laid into this
adhesive within a 3 hour period. Then the product
transitions over time into a high shear strength
permanent bond that helps control any dimensional
instability of the flooring.
Porous
The water drop will be absorbed in
approximately 30 seconds.
Recommended Trowel Sizes
POROUS SUBSTRATE (Vinyl Tile & Plank)
Taylor’s Meta-Tec® products utilize cross-linking
chemistry technology which creates a permanent bond
that when fully cured is waterproof, extremely strong,
and environmentally friendly. Meta-Tec® products are
one-part formulations that replace and out-perform
more costly epoxy, urethane, and acrylic adhesives and
are easy to use, easy to clean up, and very installer
friendly.

Taylor Meta-Tec 2091 has been rigorously tested
through three third-party certification programs that
set high standards for volatile organic compound
(VOC) emissions. It has passed UL 2818 GREENGUARD Certification Program, Carpet & Rug
Institute (CRI) Green Label Plus Program, and
Resilient Floor Covering Institutes's (RFCI) Floor
Score program. This means a safer product for you
and the environment, without sacrificing the quality or
performance of the adhesive.

Climate
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Acclimate the adhesive &
flooring between 65˚F - 95˚F.
Before installation, acclimate adhesive &
flooring in the room it is being installed
for 72 hours.
Before beginning installation make sure to identify
your substrate porosity to determine the
recommended trowel. Also be sure to follow the
climate and substrate requirements. Note that this
adhesive is not recommended for use over concrete
slabs where hydrostatic pressure, excessive moisture
or alkali exists.
Step 2 - Install Flooring
Install LVT or LVP into adhesive.
Step 1 - Trowel Adhesive
Step 3 - Roll Flooring
Moisture in substrate - below 8lbs./90RH.
Roll with 75 - 100 pound roller.
1. Apply adhesive with proper trowel.
Substrate Requirements
Clean: Remove dust & debris.
Dry: 90% RH 8lbs. CaCl2 Test
2. Allow open time to be approximately
45-90 minutes. Maximum 3 hours.
Flat Surface: Fill cracks if uneven prior to
troweling adhesive.
pH : 5-9

Acceptable Substrates:
• underlayment grade plywood
• concrete
• existing well bonded resilient or VCT
Using Gypcrete as a substrate:
Gypcrete must be properly prepared with Taylor 2025
Universal Primer ; two coats may be required. Allow 1-2
hours dry time between coats and 1-2 hours dry time
before applying flooring. Coverage is approximately
500 sq. ft./gal. per coat.
Step 4 - Clean Up & Repair
3. Adhesive will turn from yellow to tan.
Adhesive will be
“tacky” to the
touch...
...but will not transfer to finger.
Use warm water on cloth to wipe when wet.
When dry use Taylor Touchdown 9
Adhesive Remover/Stripper. Tile-Plank can
be repositioned within three hours. Remove
desired tile plank, then reapply adhesive and
reinstall tile-plank.
