Little Brother Nicholas has his share of challenges. He
has brittle bone disease, which means he misses a lot of
school and does not get to go out for PE. And he lives
with his mother, grandmother and sister—he’s the only
male in the house. Big Brother Sam is there to fill in the
gaps, helping with academics, providing a diversion during PE, and serving as the male role model Nicholas’
mother wants so badly for him to have.

Little Sister Sharmel is most proud of always wanting to
do better for herself, with each achievement motivating
her to reach higher. Ten years ago, she didn’t think
she’d go to college because she didn’t have friends or
family who had gone. But ten years ago she didn’t have
her Big Sister De Anna, encouraging her to dream,
bringing forth that sparkling sense of self, and guiding
her to success.
What if every child in the Tampa Bay area graduated from high school? What if every child was put on the

It costs $1,000 to provide a child with a mentor for one year—covering background checks
and ongoing support services that are the key to ensuring that each match between a Big
and a Little will be successful. Last year, 96% of the kids in our program went on to the next
grade level and 99% had no involvement with the juvenile justice system. Your financial
support is crucial to our success!
