Dear Members,
It has been my pleasure to introduce 21 new and 3
returning members to you over the last two months! Our
Preview Membership Program is going great. This
outstanding program will draw to a close on June 30, 2011.
Just as a reminder, each preview member will pay a
credited initiation at the end of the 12 month preview
program. You, by sponsoring a new preview member, will
receive three months of the new members dues, FREE!
Previous members who left the club in good standing can
return, no catches, no initiation fees!
We are live, on Facebook! Our micro site and Facebook
page is available and a great place to get up to the hour
details and updates of what going on at the CCC.
https://www.facebook.com/CCofC This is a link straight
to our page. If you are new to Facebook or have any
questions about it, don't fear I am here to help! If you
would like a Facebook 101 please let me know.
Lastly, my goal is to finish our preview membership
program with a huge bang! This means that we need your
help. As the membership grows our club becomes more
fun, diverse, and the possibilities are really endless. If you
have prospects make sure to take advantage of a
complimentary lunch or round of golf. All you have to do
is give me a call and I can set that up for you as well as
give the grand tour! Have a great summer and I look
forward to seeing everyone throughout the Cub!
Thank you,
Ryan Laney Harris

Golf News
Words from William,
Summer has not officially arrived but according to our
weather you could not convince me otherwise. We had a
very pleasant spring and I hope the summer weather will be
as cooperative. We did experience a dryer than normal
winter and spring and if the drought like conditions
continue, we will have to rely more and more on our
irrigation water as we did last year. We will attempt to
maintain the course at a dryer level while keeping the turf
healthy. Since the design of our irrigation system is only
meant to supplement normal rainfall, operating to avoid
"OVER-WET" areas will result on some areas being dry and
possibly turning brown. We hope to receive adequate
rainfall, but will do our best to balance the irrigation
between extremes.
The Southeastern Amateur is coming up June 15th through
the 18th. We will begin our core aerification of greens on
Monday, June 20th. We will remove the plugs and fill holes
with sand. The healing time is about two weeks. We
apologize in advance for any inconvenience this necessary
process causes in your golf schedule.
Thank you,
William Smith
Certified Golf Course Superintendent

From Your Tennis Pro...!!!
Usually everything slows down at the CCC Tennis courts after
USTA ends and we get near the end of school. Not so this year,
league is finished. The CCC has three teams that went to State.
Then the Banana Open for adults and junior come next. By the
way, the CCC had numerous winners and finalists this year. We
followed up with the CCC Club Championship with a great turn
out at around 60 participates.
Now it's summer and we have to change directions with combo
and mixed doubles. Summer camps are starting now for four
weeks in June and four in July. The Georgia Jr. Clay Court
Tournament starts on June 25th, which means the courts will be
closed for several days. The Margarita Open is Friday July 15th,
so we have a lot going on at the courts.
The CCC will host the Evert Cup, August 19th, 20th and 21st.
School starts back in the middle of August. Summer time is busy
at night, if you plan to play, give us a call so we can give you an
idea what the best time to play would be.

joining the Chattahoochee Valley CSA (Community Supported
Agriculture). Basically this means that each Saturday we
receive a basket of produce from the local farmers that are participating.
Our original plan was to create a special featuring the items in the basket on
the following Friday. However, we made the decision on the first week to
do the CSA special that night in order to showcase the produce at its
freshest (some of the produce is harvested only hours before we receive it).
So far the produce that we have received has been outstanding, and we're
looking forward to continuing to support local producers throughout the
year.
The new menu is complete and will be starting the beginning of June. There
are lots of new items as well as some old favorites that are making a return.
I hope all of you come out and try something new. I'm excited to introduce
a new event series - the "Celebrity Chef" series will kick off on June 23rd
with Chefs Rob & Sista Varner as our first celebrities. Please join us for a
fun evening as Mr. & Mrs. Varner dazzle us with their culinary talents. We
are also looking for other celebrity chefs to come in and show us your secret
recipes and spend an evening in the kitchen with us - so if you think you
can take the heat sign up to be one of our celebrities. I hope you all have a
great summer.
