In an official ceremony Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of UNWE, awarded the
Certificates to the winners in the National Competition in Applied Informatics which was held
on 26 March at the UNWE Test Center. At the event in the Ceremonial Hall attended also
Prof. Dr. Kamelia Stefanova, Dean of the Applied Informatics and Statistics Faculty, Prof.
D.Sc.(Econ.) Valentin Kisimov, Director of the Center for Computer Innovative Systems,
engineer Iglika Nedelcheva, Director of John Atanasoff Vocational High School of
Electronics.

The Certificate shows your result which gives you a worthy high entry level for the university,
outlined Porf. Kamelia Stefanova. The Dean outlined the exceptionally useful and dynamic
partnership of UNWE with John Atanasoff Vocational High School of Electronics in
organization and implementation of the National Competition in Applied Informatics.
The winners in the Competition
You are already students at the UNWE, greeted the winners in the Competition Prof. Statty
Stattev. You are students at the second oldest university in the country which 96 years after
its foundation has become the first university in Bulgaria for its quantitative and qualitative
indicators. The Rector outlined that the UNWE had been not occasionally called “Bulgarian
Harvard” because it creates the national elite. For confirmation of his words Prof. Stattev
pointed out that six Prime Ministers, six Ministers of Foreign Affairs and 14 Financial
Ministers in the last 15 Bulgarian governments had been graduated from the UNWE. Our
university is the largest higher business school in Southeastern Europe and you are already
members of its academic family, said the Rector to the pupils and wished them success in
their further education.

The newly admitted students were also greeted by engineer Iglika Nedelcheva, Director of
John Atanasoff Vocational High School of Electronics. She defined as an honour and great
challenge the opportunity of pupils to study in the modern speciality Business Informatics and
Communications at the largest university in the country.
The Rector Prof. Stattev awarded to engineer Nedelcheva the Honorary diploma as a sign of
thankfulness for the successful partnership between the university and Sofia Vocational High
School of Electronics (in the picture below).
39 pupils were excelled as winners. According to the Competition regulations their results are
recognized as successfully passed examination for prospective students at the UNWE in the
subfield of Applied Informatics, Communications and Econometrics, speciality Business
Informatics and Communications for the academic year 2016/2017. 27 of the winners were
pupils from John Atanasoff Vocational High School of Electronics, 5 pupils were from M.V.
Lomonosov National Professional High School of Fine Engineering and Optics, 6 ones - from
the Vocational High School of Electronics and Automation and 1 pupil - from Professional
High School of Telecommunications.
The Rector is awarding the Certificate to Yulian Ivanov who has achieved the highest result in the Competition.
Prof. Kamelia Stefanova also awarded Certificates.
The Rector awarded the Certificates to four participants in the Competition who had achieved
the highest results in the test in Applied Informatics.
