There are parties... and then there are parties! And
those in attendance at the 2012 City of Hope dinner and
celebration on July 21st would all agree it was an event
to be listed under a third category: PARTYYY!!!
This year’s honoree was our very own George Schaeffer,
President & CEO of OPI. It was to a standing ovation that he received
the Spirit of Life® Award at the annual City of Hope event, held in
conjunction with the Professional Beauty Association’s Cosmoprof
2012 in Las Vegas. George and the Schaeffer Family Foundation
have a long tradition of generous support to philanthropic causes
and organizations. His belief that "giving back is beautiful" drives
what he considers to be his greatest accomplishment – a lifetime of
philanthropy. All proceeds went directly to the City of Hope for the cure
and treatment of diabetes, a cause dear to his heart. So dear, that he
matched contributions for a grand total of over $5 million in donations!
A record-setting attendance of 1,600 party-goers were lavished with
mouth-watering cuisine by Chef Hubert Keller, musical entertainment
by R&B icons Al Green and Aretha Franklin, and a surprise performance
of "100 Years" by Five for Fighting’s John Ondrasik.
Whether talked-about, tweeted, or Facebooked, all agree it was the
party of a lifetime... one not soon to be forgotten!

America Collection won the Prix de Beauté 2012 of
Cosmopolitan magazine award in Poland! The ceremony
took place in May in the famous royal summer residence
of King Stanislaw August. Many Polish celebrities took
part in this event, and of course OPI Team Poland was
there. We’re also delighted to report that the much
coveted Allure Reader’s Choice Awards were announced
in the June issue…and OPI won THREE!

OPI Exclusive at the Capitol
The Professional
Beauty Federation
(PBF), an umbrella
trade association for the salon industry, recently held its 12th annual Welcome
to Our World event on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the
event is to familiarize legislators with the important role our industry plays in the
national economy and in local communities. Over 700 legislators and staffers
received mini-manicures, haircuts, and other services. OPI products were used
exclusively. Eric Schwartz of OPI is the President of the PBF. Pictured from left to

mini-manicures
featuring the
stunning new
shades from
the collection.
With Disney World nearby, it wasn’t difficult for
OPI Educators in Orlando to get their "Minnie
on" to promote OPI’s Vintage Minnie Mouse
Nail Lacquer promotion at the Premiere show
in June. Also highlighted were 12 new shades
of GelColor Soak-Off Gel Lacquer, which drew
show-goers like mice to cheese.
Joey Brown: Earning those Miles!
When she’s not unpacking from a trip spent leading intensive hands-on training somewhere in the
world, Joey’s packing for her next trip, and May was no exception for this busy jet-setter. In Malaysia,
she introduced GelColor to an enthusiastic crowd as past and current Ms. Malaysias provided
modeling and entertaining in an event that was attended by celebrities, television execs and editors.
Whisked off to Bangkok, Joey attended a PR event at the OPI Boutique Nail Salon, followed by a
day of GelColor training. At the main event where GelColor and Spider-Man were introduced to
the region’s top spas and salons, Spider-Man himself made an appearance doing flips onstage
as he rescued a lady in distress. On the heels of that trip, her next stop was Moscow, to attend a conference held by OPI
distributor Verbena Plus that included two days of GelColor and Axxium Soak Off. How many miles is that, Joey?
