THE BOARD’S CORNER:
Good Day Orangevale!
My name is Brandy Kunakey, and I
am your new 2009-2010 Treasurer
for the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce. Some of
you know me and some of you may not, but be assured I will do my best to help support and further
our Orangevale Chamber!
When I drove into Orangevale for the first time and
saw the FFA logo I was excited. Upon moving to
California I was overwhelmed with the size of the
Sacramento area, but Orangevale felt comforting as
soon as I arrived. I am originally from a small town
in Albany, Ohio where growing up, I participated in
several agricultural contests with the FFA and 4-H,
most of which were in local and state fairs. In the
next town over, Athens, I attended Ohio University
where I earned dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Campus
Recreation and Recreation Management as well as a
minor in Business Administration. After completing
an internship with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, in Daytona Beach Florida, I returned to
Ohio University where I received my Masters in
Recreation Studies. Following my graduation, my
husband and I moved to Sacramento where I am
currently working as the Recreation Supervisor for
the Orangevale Recreation & Park District. Now in
my third summer at the Orangevale Recreation &
Park District I am responsible for a wide variety of
Orangevale community events, summer day camp,
trips, special classes, senior activities, youth sports
and much more.

is still quite large compared to my little town, it still
warms my heart with its farms, parks, and genuine
neighborhood community. In the coming years I
