The Castaway Critters 12 Days of Christmas
The holidays are a very busy time of year for everyone. A few of our current foster cats and dogs
decided to get together and help us out by writing the holiday newsletter and sharing their own
perspectives on the past year. They have worked very hard to interview each other, get in touch
with Castaway Critters “alumni” for their photos, and share a few of their thoughts. Please forgive
their spelling and grammatical errors. Some of them are very little and are still learning……

Letter to Santa

Holiday Giving
Dear Santa,
By Mudge and Mona
Hi! How are you? We are Sirius Jones and Chance and we were saved by Castaway
Critters. We heard somewhere that kids write to you to ask for stuff for Christmas. We
were wonderin’ if you could help us out too. We don’t want a whole lot. Just some
little giffs that might help us and our foster mommies and daddies out. Everyone
heer is sooooo nice to us. We juss wanted to see if you would anser our letter by
delivering some giffs.
Heer is what we need.
The kitties could reely use some cat and kitten food. They like the stuff in the canz
and in the bagz. Sum of the littel baby kittens need stuff called KMR. That is Kitten
Meal Replacement. (We had to Google that one.)
Because the cats are all reely good at using the litter box, we also need kitty litter. (You
don’t want to run out of that stuff, trust me, Santa. That could be a mess.) Speeking of
messes, we could also use some paper towelz, please.
We know you have a bunch of stuff to bring to kidz on Christmas, so we thought it
might be eazy to send gift cardz. Castaway Critters can use cardz to places called Office
Max, Staples, Target and Wal-mart. We can’t go to those places with our foster parentz,
but we hear there is lots of good stuff there! They can also use cardz to gas stations for
when they need to drive miles and miles to pick up animals who need help.
Nice cozy bedz are also great for us cats and dogs! They don’t have to be fancy, just
something warm to take a snooze in.
But do you know what our biggest wish of all is, Santa? We would reely love to get
adopted, please! A “furever home” would be the best Christmas giff ever!
Well thank you very much, Santa. We know you are very buzy, but were hoping you
could help us with our wish list. Say hi to Mizzes Claus, your elves, Rudolf and all the
other reindeerz!
Merry Christmas Santa!
Love,
Sirius Jones, Chance, and all the cats and dogs at Castaway Critters
It’s kinda tough for us to ask for money. Us animals usually only ask for scratches,
cuddles, treats, and to go outside to….um….do our business. But we do know that
money is part of what it takes to get us ready for adoption. We have all been to the
vet at least once. Some of us get really scared, but most of the time, it’s okay. And
wow! It costs a lot of money to pay for surgery, vaccines, and medicine! So, we are
asking for your help.
Some of us have had to stay at the vet for a long time, like Betsy and Patches: “We
were in rough shape, you guys. We each had a very yucky eye that had to be taken
out. But we are doing just fine now and waiting for our forever homes!”
Some of us are mommies who were saved with our babies. So think about that! Vet
visits and operations for not only one, but sometimes 5, 8 or even 13 animals! Yep!
In the summertime, Castaway Critters saved doggies named Majika, Daddy, and their
11 puppies! Some of the puppies were pretty sick, but all of them are doing great
now! But just think of the vet bills for that!
We get really mad when we think about this, but it’s true that some of us have been
hurt by bad people. Like our buddy, Panzer was owned by someone who just tied
him up outside for 5 years! I know! How mean! But Castaway Critters saved Panzer
and others who need extra help learning how to trust people again.
So even though we dogs and cats don’t really use money, we do know that it
takes a lot of it to make sure we are healthy, happy and ready for adoption.
There is a little piece of paper below that you can use to send in a donation to
help us and other animals who need medicine, operations, and food. You can
also go to www.castawaycritters.org and donate using this thing called PayPal.
We hear it’s really easy!
