July Edition 2016
Dear Parents,
Thank you for all your
support this year; it’s been
an amazing year.
As you are aware Ofsted
inspected the school on 30th
June and 1st July. Although
we’re still not allowed to
share our grade with you
until our inspection report is
published, hopefully in the
next week, they identified
that we were a very
effective school in all areas.
They agreed with us that
our pupils make excellent
progress from their starting
points and noted that our
staff and pupil interaction
were extremely positive at
all times.
We are also thrilled that our
Free School bid was
successful and this means
that another 100 pupil
places will be available to
Brent families in the next
few years once The Avenue
school opens.
Thank you all for your
ongoing help and support
and for helping us to
make Manor School a
place where ‘Love, Learn
and Laugh’ is alive.
Hope you all enjoy a lovely
holiday.
Best wishes,
Jayne
There have been lots of exciting school trips this term to support and enhance learning,
including visits to the Science Museum, Legoland Windsor, boating at Welsh Harp and
skiing in a snowdome. The pupils had a really interesting Science Week packed with
activities. They were also able to explore and develop their creative skills in Art Week with
some excellent print making sessions and arts and craft lessons.
Unfortunately we had to cancel our Sports Day this year but we will be organising a new
Sport Days early in the Autumn Term. We will be in contact with you closer to the time to
let you have the date and times.
We hope our Year 6 pupils enjoyed their school disco and we’re all looking forward to their
special leavers assembly next Monday.
The Avenue Approved
We are happy to announce that the Department for
Education is supporting the establishment of The
Avenue, a new special school for Brent. Manor School is
one of three schools helping to develop The Avenue with
the aim of the school opening in September 2017.
The new school will eventually provide 100 places for
pupils aged between 4 and 18 and will help meet the
growing demand for special school places. This fantastic news was part of former Prime
Minister David Cameron’s speech on 11th July 2016, for more information please visit:

time to allow our parents and carers to check
for missing items.
Please make sure you always label all of your
child’s school clothing and belongings.

Makaton Beginners’ Workshop
Congratulations to all the parents who completed the
Makaton Beginners’ Workshop, we hope the learnt skills
will help with daily communication with your children.
We will be running more Makaton training workshops
again next year, please visit the school website for more
information and dates.
Our trip to Milton Keynes snowdome was great fun and the pupils enjoyed developing their skiing skills on a
snow slope. For more photos of this event and other activities throughout the last year please visit the events
page of the ’My Class, My Learning’ section of the school website.
Thank you to everyone who donated
towards our Super Hero Day, the pupils
had a fantastic time and were joined in
their celebrations by students from Willow
Children Centre and College Green School
who held their own Super Hero Day.
We would also like to say a big thank you
to Waitrose for their donation of £370 and
Kmarni’s family who helped to organise
the donation.
Please remember to complete your online shopping via our School Angel account
