the Body

Workshop #2: Expressive Movement and
Conceptualizing Interventions
The Southern California Society's
Professional Workshops are open to
mental health professionals interested in
working with the body in psychotherapy and
interested in training in Bioenergetic Analysis,
as well as to individuals seeking experience in
body-focused psychotherapy.
This workshop will be taught by Diana
Guest, CBT. She is the Coordinating Trainer
for SCIBA, an international faculty member
and has taught in Brazil, New Zealand, China
and the US. Come spend the day and learn
from her experience.
Bioenergetic Bodywork
Group/Individual Process
Didactic Learning
Bioenergetic therapy works with the
whole person by addressing conflicts
cognitively, emotionally and physically.
Movement is the third leg of the bioenergetic
triangle: Breathing/Movement/ Feeling.
Movement shows us a way to access deeper
feelings, discharge excess excitation, express
ourselves and connect ourselves in a more
integrated way. We will explore three classes
of movement. From here we will explore
how to conceptual interventions that deepen
the work with clients and facilitate deep
healing. This workshop will be primarily
experiential.

The Language of the Body series will teach fundamental
concepts that promote the therapists use of self and how to
tolerate and sit with the clients’ strong and deep emotional
states to promote their healing.
