Preconference Farm Tour—Twenty-three Registered Dietitians from across the
state enjoyed a beautiful day learning more about agriculture in Tennessee.
Attendees visited and tour Hatcher Dairy Farm where they tasted butter, white
& chocolate mile, and saw firsthand how milk travels safely from farm to
glass. During a delicious & healthy lunch at Tap Root Beef farm, Assistant
Commissioner of Agriculture Jai Templeton, talked to the group about the important role of agriculture throughout the state and what resources are available to farmers and dietitians. To end the day, farm tour attendees took a fun
hayride on Tap Root beef farm and learned more about beef cattle and the
beef industry in our state. It was a great group of dietitians and we couldn’t
have asked for a more beautiful day to spend on Tennessee farms!

areas of nutrition and educate our members in a variety of aspects
of the RD/Nutritionist industry. This year, during our luncheon, we
selected a motivational speaker – Kelly Swanson. Ms. Swanson entertained us in a variety of ways that focused our attention on the value of ourselves and how important our role is for our patients, as
well as our communities. Our areas of focus this year included:
childhood obesity, customer service, school nutrition, and many
more. With over 150 members in attendance, 18 exhibitors sharing
samples and information about their products, not to mention time
to network with one another, this conference proved to be one of our
best. Don’t miss next year!!!!
Our date will be March 6-7, 2013.
