Ram S. Nanda
Professor Ram S. Nanda, B.D.S., D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, was
Chairman in the Department of Orthodontics, University of Oklahoma College
of Dentistry for 35 years. He was also Chair of the Division of Developmental
Dentistry and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Cell Biology at the
University of Oklahoma Health
Sciences Center. He was honored by an appointment as Endowed Chair in 1996 by the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Nanda's teaching career spans over five decades. He is the founder of the orthodontic department as well
as the Division of Developmental Dentistry at the University of Oklahoma. He organized excellent innovative
clinical and research programs in predoctoral and graduate orthodontics.
Dr. Nanda has offered numerous lectures and courses on his philosophy, treatment technique, and research
both nationally and internationally. His contributions to research are widely acknowledged with presentation
of over 150 original papers and several book chapters. Dr. Nanda has always maintained a clinical practice and
is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. Drawing on his years of experience, he is very knowledgeable
on the contemporary issues in Orthodontics.
Dr. Nanda has received several honors and awards, notable among them were the first research award from
the Angle Society, first Jarabak award from the Indiana University, and the Martin Dewey Memorial award from
the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists.
ESTHETICS AND BIOMECHANICS BASED ORTHODONTIC STRATEGIES
Ravindra Nanda
Dr. Ravindra Nanda is at present UConn Alumni Endowed Chair, and Professor
and Head of the Department of Craniofacial Sciences and Chair of division of
Orthodontics, University of Connecticut, Farmington, Connecticut, U.S.A.He
received his dental training from Lucknow University, India in 1964. He received
his orthodontic training first at
Lucknow, India and then from Nymegen, The Netherlands and the University of Connecticut. He also received
a Ph.D. for the University of Nymegen in 1969. He was an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at Loyola
University, Illinois from 1970 to 1972 and since 1972 he has been associated with the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Nanda has done extensive research during the last forty years in the areas of cleft lip and palate, orthopedic
forces and on long-term growth with orthognathic surgery in adolescents. In recent years, his major thrust
has been in development of SMART wires, clinical orthodontic trials and application of biomechanics in a busy
orthodontic practice. Dr. Nanda has been author and co-author of four orthodontic books and more than one
hundred scientific and clinical articles in major journals. He is on the editorial board of seven different national
and international orthodontic journals.He is an associate editor of Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.
He is an active member of various organization, including the American Association of Orthodontists, European
Orthodontic Society and Edward H. Angle Society. Dr. Nanda is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Orthodontics.
Dr.Nanda is a co-editor of a book Retention and Stability. His most recent books are Biomechanics in Clinical
Orthodontics and Biomechanic and Esthetic Strategies In Clinical Orthodontics. His upcoming new book is titled
Temporary Anchorage Devices in Orthodontics.

Geir Sverre Braut
Geir Sverre Braut er utnemnd som ass.
direktør i Helsetilsynet frå 1. april 2002.
Braut var fylkeslege i Rogaland sidan 1994,
avbrote av eit engasjement i Sosial- og
helsedepartementet (1999). Han fungerte
som fylkeslege i Telemark (2001) og var
deretter konstituert som ass. helsedirektør
i et halvt år (2001–02). Han har tidlegare
vore assisterande fylkeslege i Rogaland
(1985–1994).
Braut er cand. med. frå Universitetet i Oslo
(1980) og godkjent spesialist i samfunnsmedisin (1997). Han har folkehelseutdanning
frå Nordiska hälsovårdshögskolan (NHV) i
Göteborg (1991). Han har hatt deltidsstilling som lektor (helseadministrasjon)
ved NHV og er førstelektor II ved Høgskolen
Stord Haugesund (helse- og tryggleiksfag).
Han har dessutan følgjande verv:
