We offer students a wide variety of facilities to makes their lives more
comfortable, including a large cafeteria with a wide range of menu
choices, a campus bookstore that meets everyone’s academic and

easy access to all transportation services.
Free Student Transportation
For the convenience of the students commuting long distance, the university
provides free trarsportation to and from the main spots in the city.

Each student is assigned a professor-advisor to help with academics,
provide general life counseling, and assist them with career choices.
Student counseling is part of the regular curriculum each semester.
Students receive individual counseling at least twice a semester, and are

Realizing a dream of love for humanity through the high-tech education
The Department of Nursing is the leading department of Cheju Halla University, one of the
nation’s 2011 World Class Colleges. As the first nursing educational institute to be established in
Jeju, the department continues to build on its 46-year history, advancing towards becoming the
world’s leading nursing department. In 2001, a unique integrative program using the Problem Based
Learning (PBL) method was introduced, and as a result, the department was authorized to offer a

four-year degree program in 2012. The Core Skill TLP(Tutorial, Lab, Practicum) program has been
in operation since 2007. Our department provides an educational environment which meets the
demands of domestic and international industries, and produces globally competitive professional
nurses.

• Overseas Employment
In 2009, we began to offer Jeju's first overseas employment
program for department graduates, sending students to Japan
and Australia. Students acquire employment through intensive
practical skills training and foreign language classes at CHU,
followed by further education at language schools abroad, and
receive financial support from the government for the visa
acquisition process and airfare. We have the highest overseas
employment rate (73 students with overseas employment by
2014) of all universities in Korea, and plan to offer even more
overseas employment opportunities in the United States and
Qatar.

The Halla Art Hall is second to none among Korea’s college facilities, with
modern sound and lighting equipment leaving nothing to be desired for
artistic and cultural performances. The Building is equipped with heating,
cooling and air purification systems with sound absorption technologies
that meet government performance hall standards, and the space is wide
enough to host large-scale performances. A comfortable environment to
enjoy arts and cultural events can be found not only at the Halla Art Hall but
also at various other performance centers around campus, making Cheju
Halla University a true home for arts and culture.

Halla Student Dormitory
Library
The library is a central institution of the university, offering excellent
educational programs and a place to conduct research and give
lectures. Students and professors enjoy access to a wide selection
of books and research materials that the library staff continually
collects, organizes, analyzes, and preserves. Our Comfortable and
convenient facilities include a general reading room, an open-shelf
room and a digital information center. Recently, it created a mobile
application library for the user’s convenience.
Opened in March of 2002, the Halla Student Dormitory is located within
Cheju Halla University campus with the best facilities in the nation, housing
366 students [148 males, 218 females]. Each room is equipped with highspeed internet access, leaving nothing to be desired by today’s generation of
students. Heating and air-conditioning provide a comfortable atmosphere,
allowing students to pursue their studies without any distractions. The
dormitory’s facilities also include a large fitness center, a table tennis room,
a lounge, a billiards hall, shower rooms, an internet research center and a
convenience store, so that the students have everything they need nearby.
Computerized Information Center
Reserve Forces Platoon
The center plays a key role in data processing at Cheju Halla
University, and provides support for core advanced technologies
related to IT, BT and CT, ensuring smooth communication among
the university’s various departments and institutions. The facility
provides information on journal articles and research papers,
and supports students and professors by collecting and analyzing
books and other academic research materials.
The Reserve Forces Platoon was established for our staff and students to
reduce the burden of belonging to the local reserve unit. It is focused on the
substantial training, accommodation and operation of the reserve forces in
the university.
University Newspaper and Educational Broadcasting Station
The Halla Spring and Fall , CHU’s school newspaper, delivers news
about the university’s students, professors and alumni, as well
as high schools, college journalism institutions and other related
groups across the country. It is currently published monthly in four
or eight-page format, with a circulation of around 2,000 copies per
issue. Alerting its readership to university events and activities on
and off campus, the paper stimulates interest in the college, the
student body and society in general.
The Educational Broadcasting Station was established to aid
CHU in achieving its founding vision and to ensure healthy
cultural development at the university. It makes public service
announcements, reports current events and provides cultural
information, playing an important role in creating a bright,
academic atmosphere on campus.

In order to produce experts fit for a global era, the International Cooperation
Center runs many different programs to support the creation of a global
mindset and international networks, and strengthen the competitiveness of
CHU on the 21st century global stage.

Foreign Language Education Center
The center was established in line with the goals of Jeju Free International
City, offering state-of-the-art language learning facilities and a wide range
of foreign language programs. Current students and the general public
have the opportunity to focus on improving their foreign language skills and
become more globally competitive.
Confucius Institute
The Confucius Institute at Cheju Halla University was authorized and
established in 2009 by the government of China and is the 13th of its kind
in Korea, and the first in Jeju. A Rank five Chinese government official, Li
Jang-chun, visited CHU for its opening ceremony, to celebrate the honor
of Cheju Halla University being the only technical college in Korea to host
a Confucius Institute, becoming one of the finest Chinese language and
culture educational institutes in the nation.
Continuing Education Center
Providing both working individuals and the general public lifelong learning
opportunities, the Continuing Education Center offers a wide range of
educational programs taught by university professors in its many teaching
facilities. By connecting the school and local citizens, the center contributes to
the development of our society by offering opportunities to improve the quality of
life of adults. CHU and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province cooperate to run
government-university-community educational programs for mutual growth
and development. We offer credit courses, licensing programs, business
preparation, and health and culture courses. The programs provide a high level
of lifelong learning opportunities for adult learners wishing to study at the
university.
Curriculum Evaluation Center
The Curriculum Evaluation Center at Cheju Halla University was established on
December 11, 2009, for the direction and administration of curriculum
innovation based on practical education. It’s operated by the Planning
Department, and provides supporting administrative services for the university
in accordance with various certification assessment criteria. To promote the
sustainable development of education certification, the status of the Curriculum
Evaluation Center was amended on April 23, 2013, and it now operates as an
independent curriculum assessment authority at our university. To meet
demand-oriented education goals and performance-based education
objectives, the center develops strategies and offers support for education
evaluation certification systems to ensure the cultivation of superior technical
manpower.
NCS Support Center
The NCS Support Center was established on April 25, 2014, in order to
improve the quality of NCS [National Competency Standards] based education.
It supports curriculum development and the improvement of administrational
methods, with the ultimate aim of cultivating gradvates equipped with the job
skills demanded by the industry.
Center for Teaching & Learning
The center conducts research on teaching and learning methods to actively
incorporate changing norms in education. Programs are developed to help
professors with improving the quality of their classes. Students are also
provided with learning methods and information for self-directed studies.
Professional and systematic support of the center ensures stabilized
education.
Disabled Students Support Center
To provide disabled students with an improved educational environment and
prevent them from experiencing any discomfort in the pursuit of their
studies, the center was established in April 2011. Its goal is to maximize the
effectiveness of inclusive education and to support the learning activities of
students with disabilities.
Cheju Halla University Kindergarten
The Cheju Halla University Kindergarten opened in February, 2005. It is the
largest of its kind in Korea and provides an ideal educational environment,
managed in consultation with leading early childhood education experts.
The Cheju Halla University Kindergarten was selected as an outstanding
kindergarten for character development by the Ministry of Education,
Science and Technology. Through education and volunteer work, it aims
to produce leaders for the 21st century and contribute to the development
of society through customized educational programs in conjunction with
the Department of Early Childhood Education. It also offers superb training
experiences for CHU students and social groups.
Halla Convention Center
Halla Convention Center is furnished with various subsidiary facilities
including a multipurpose room, a restaurant and cafeteria for the students'
convenience while also providing spaces for on-site focused class and field

Job Training Center
Cheju Halla University operates a job training
consortium with the Jeju Provincial Tourism

Business Creation Center
In accordance with Korean government’s promotion

Halla-Newcastle PBL Education Center
In line with the university’s vision of becoming one
of Asia’s leading centers of education, the PBL
Education Center was founded in January 2002
to respond to the demands of the 21st century
by improving the quality of education at CHU and
producing expert graduates equipped with practical
job skills. In order to develop and disseminate
PBL education, the center provides consultation,
educational programs and research support for PBL
university departments and interested members of
the public. Programs for professors and industry
professionals are also developed and operated
by the PBL Center. The Center meets Korea’s
demands for job skills-focused education and aims
at becoming Asia’s leading institution for on-site job
skill education.
Halla-Stony Brook Emergency
Medicine Education Center
To provide world class education and foster more
international exchanges, in line with the founding
vision of the Jeju Free International City and Jeju
Special Self-Governing Province, Cheju Halla
University has established Halla-Stony Brook
Emergency Medicine Education Center in conjunction
with Stony Brook State University of New York. The
Center is the biggest simulation center in Korea and
has taken a leading role in simulation education. The
center is a BLS and ACLS Training Site approved by
AHA and KACPR. It trains nursing and healthcare
professionals, equipping them with internationally
recognized certifications. In cooperation with Stony
Brook State University of New York, the center runs
the “Difficult Airway Program” of First Airway LLC,
for emergency medicine specialists.
Marine Leisure Sports Centre
To strengthen the competitiveness of the local
community and supply the marine experts demanded
by local industry, the center is conducting programs
to train marine leisure sports professionals
according to systematic educational principles.

Food Art Center
The Food Art Center was established to enrich the
culinary culture of Jeju. It aims to produce culinary
experts who will lead in the field of Jeju’s traditional
cuisine by conducting research and offering customized
educational programs that are professionally developed
and organized.
Jeju Traditional Food Products Research Center
The 21st century has seen an increase in the quality
and variety of eating habits in our society, along with
the introduction of new food products from China and
other countries, which has led to fierce competition. The
purpose of the Jeju Traditional Food Products Research
Center is to conduct research on utilizing traditional Jeju
food products and culinary techniques to systematically
produce modern food products that appeal to the
international market, and to exchange and distribute
information about Jeju traditional cuisine.
Social Service Support Center
The Social Service Support Center was established in
2009 with support from the Ministry of Health, Welfare
and Families. It aims to create specialized jobs for
vulnerable members of society and expand regional
social welfare by offering social services which meet
local needs. In 2012, the Center was chosen to continue
for four more years as a supporting institution of the
Regional Social Service Investment Project, of which
the ‘Spare Time Activity Service Provider for the Elderly’
program is a part of. The center plays an important role
in stimulating the local economy by creating jobs for a
wide segment of the society through new regional social
service ideas and operating training programs.

Equine Industry Education Research Center
Urban Environment Education Research Center
The center supports teaching and learning in new high-tech
information technology fields, and develops research programs to
be carried out by government, social organizations and businesses.
To contribute to the technical development of local society and
the country in general, the center conducts training and research
for high-tech businesses by collecting information on new growth
industries.
Broadcasting & Video Center
The Broadcasting & Video Center was established to cope with
rapidly changing digital and broadcasting technologies in this
era of fusion and convergence. It serves as a base station for the
distribution of local film production and cultural contents through
its network promotion and cooperation with industries. The center
is focusing on three major fields of specialization: 3D images,
tangible augmented reality [AR] and underwater special effects.
The center offers certification programs and a broadcasting and
video academy for local residents.
To contribute to the development of Korea’s fastgrowing equine industry and the tourism industry in
Jeju Province, the center runs educational programs
and conducts research in the field. For current
employees of companies in the equine industry, the
center offer horsebackriding, horse racing and horse
training programs, in addition to equine business
management courses.
Equine Industry Development & Support Center
Offering various skills training programs to produce
the professionals required by the equine industry, the
center assists the university in achieving its aim of
supporting the development of the equine industry.
Taking a leading role in Korea’s equine industry,
the center serves local society by contributing to

The center cultivates professionals through urban

was established through close collaboration of the two universities
in August 2011. The two universities are jointly running the center
