Teachers of the First Nine Weeks Recognized by the Board of Trustees
11 teachers were recognized at Tuesday’s Ennis ISD Board of Trustees meeting held
at EISD Board Room. The teachers were recognized as teachers of the First Nine

Board Approves Ellis County Appraisal District Board of Directors

In September the board nominated C.T. “Tom” Abram as the Board of Directors candidate for the Ellis Appraisal District. The EISD Board of Trustees cast all their 534 votes
to elect C.T. “Tom” Abram, to the Ellis County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

First Reading of Update 103
Update 103 is the first of two post-legislative updates, and it encompasses changes in law
from the 84th Legislative Session that have an immediate effect on the governance and
management of school districts. Local policies included in Update 103 address topics
including training requirements for district peace officers, the use of prepaid meal cards/
accounts for students, employee conflicts of interest and standards of conduct, harassment
and discrimination, e-cigarettes, and student attendance. In addition to the local policies
affected by the legislative session, Update 103 includes local policy recommendations to
address new federal regulations governing federal grants and awards as well as recommendations to clarify the structure of the policy manual and the application of policy in
relation to the award of credit or a final grade.
NCLB Highly Qualified Report
Section 1119 of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) focuses on improving
teacher quality at the local level. To achieve this goal, the act requires all teachers
teaching core subject academic areas to meet specific competency and educational requirements. Teachers who meet these requirements are considered “Highly
Qualified.. Assistant Superintendent James Sanders reported that Ennis ISD met
state standards.
