In Conclusion:
A good audio player is a complex beast. This is far and away the most
complete, flexible and best supported player I’ve found for Wordpress.

Postlude:
Soundcloud has a custom player available on Github. I may try building
one and seeing if I can add the other features I am looking for (like
waveforms and single fixed player triggered by html on the page).
