Comment: “God has blessed our family in so
many ways. It became apparent to us that
tithing after learning more about it, and after
prayerful consideration, was really “the right
thing to do.”
Through the intercession of Saint Ann to whom
this campaign is dedicated, may we face the
challenges of our undertaking with courage,
cooperation and generosity.
Pastors Comment: “Last week we heard the
passage from St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians,
to ‘be imitators of God, as beloved children’. We
speak of God as kind and merciful, loving and
generous. Thank you for taking St. Paul’s
instruction to heart and leading the way in
following the example of Jesus.”

SUMMER ENVELOPES
We sincerely thank our parishioners who mail or
deliver your weekly envelopes to the parish
office while you are out-of-town on vacation this
summer. As many of you understand, our parish
expenses and obligations do not take a vacation
when you do, so it is very helpful to be able to
rely on your continued support even when you
cannot personally attend Mass here.
Mr. & Mrs. Jacinto Fernandes, parishioners of
Our Lady of Fatima received a letter from Rt.
Rev Alwyn Barreto, Bishop of Sindhudurg,
requesting funds for Our Lady of Fatima Church
of Masura. The Presbytery (Rectory) is in a
dilapidated condition and the Church needs a
complete renovation. The parish priest said that
the Presbytery is leaking everywhere in the
house.
The people in this area are poor, illiterate and
underprivileged and are engaged in seasonal
occupations of farming and fishing. Fr. Paul has
agreed to allow Mr. & Mrs. Fernandes to take up
a collection outside of Church on August 22nd &
23rd to assist in this urgent need.
The Italian Classes will resume in September.
Date to be announced.

In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the
Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.

The world was a playground for Mickey,
a naive Irish American kid bored with
his life. His father served in World War
II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam;
now it was his turn. His 365 days in
Vietnam builds in torment until an
attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia.
Wounded, his friend captured, he
becomes a tormented survivor knowing
he is always just a heartbeat from death.
