Section I: Before you begin
1.
Locate your installation authorization code that you received from Revelation Software or your authorized
reseller. You will need this authorization code to activate the upgrade process.
2.
Close all non-essential Windows programs.
3.
Stop the OEngineServer and OETelnetServer services from previous OpenInsight installations if
applicable.
4.
This software will only run on Windows NT, 2000, XP Professional, Vista Business 32&64-bit, Vista
Ultimate 32&64-bit, Windows 7 Ultimate 32&64-bit, 2000 Server, 2003 Server or 2008 Server.
5.
OpenInsight 9.4 and above includes a client install process. When initially installing the 9.4 (either a full
install or an upgrade), the client files can be installed on the ‘server’ (where OpenInsight is being installed
or upgraded) automatically at the end of the setup process. On other workstations, administrators must
point to the OpenInsight directory on the server and run the ClientSetup.exe file.
The Data Encryption component requires the Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework.
The client install process contains the following components:





OpenInsight idxSets v1.3 – This is a .Net version of idx sets. This can be activated by changing
the configuration record CFG_IDX_SETS found in the SYSENV table.
OpenInsight Browser Control v1.0 – This component is for our “embedded” O4W that can be
used on an OpenInsight form.
RevelationDotNet – This contains OIPI.NET, the BRW, NetOI, RevDotNet, and all other .Net
2.0 utilities.
Revelation Software Encryption Client – This is a .Net 4.0 component of Data Encryption at
Rest (DER) on the client.
RevelationDotNet4.0 – This is a .Net 4.0 version of NetOI and RevDotNet
.
6.

Section IV: Setting your OIPI version
1.
By default OpenInsight 9.4 will utilize OIPI.NET as the print engine. You can configure your system to
use OIPI by changing the VSPRINTER2 setting in the SYSENV table to VSPRINTER. From the
SYSPROG application open the System Editor.
2.
Select Open, Record.
23
3.
Choose the SYSENV table and the CFG_OIPI record.
4.
If you want to utilize OIPI in lieu of OIPI.NET set field 1 of the CFG_OIPI from VSPRINTER2 to
VSPRINTER. Save the record, close OpenInsight. Your changes will take effect when OpenInsight is
reopened.
