Commissioners
District 1 - Marty Clinton
Commissioner Marty Clinton reported
that the Navajo School Road project is
in the works. The survey work has been
completed and the environmental work will
soon start. Then the design work will be
completed. We are currently on track for
construction of three miles from the school
north to Hwy. 19 for the summer of 2013.
The STP grant received for Racetrack Road
will construct two to three miles from Hwy.
283 east on County Road 159. This project
is on schedule for construction for 2016.
District 1 employees have attended several classes in the last year to help them do
there job more efficiently and safely. We
have purchased some new equipment to
allow us to do our work in a more productive and safe manner. It has been a very
busy year with the drought causing severe
damage to all of our roads.
District 2 - Anthony Fixico
Right now Oklahoma is concentrating on
improving its bridges, and Jackson County
is no exception. In Anthony Fixico’s District
2, his staff is working on many projects
including Project Number BRF-133C (105)
CO. This is a bridge over an unnamed
creek five miles south and four point six
miles east (33E169.ON2080005). The old
bridge was 103 feet in length and 25 feet
in width. The new bridge is approximately
the same length but 32 feet nine inches
wide. This bridge will be wider to allow for
and corporate events for
up to 500 to 600 people at
the resort is a team effort
with Taylor planning innovative foods that complement each other. Taylor
also offers an unusual
approach to providing delicious meals planned around
special dietary concerns.
Given 24-hours notice, he
will craft specialty foods to
suit the most discriminating palate. Taylor regularly
stocks soy milk and skim
milk to suit guest preferences and needs.
Aiming
to
make
the resort a target for
families to come enjoy
Southwestern hospitality, Taylor offers American
regional foods including
an unusually wholesome
children’s menu. Beyond
the normal mac’n cheese
and fried chicken nuggets,
they offer grilled chicken
fingers, steamed veggies,
yogurt cups, fruit, quesadil-
transportation of equipment.
District 3 - Cary Carrell
Jackson County District 3 is in the pro-
cess of eliminating its “Fracture Critical”
bridges. In 2011, one of the three was
replaced. Currently the second bridge is
programmed for replacement in late 2012
or early 2013. Cary Carrell said, “The third
and final bridge in this classification is on
the county’s five-year bridge program. Due
to its size we will need to access the state
and federal Bridge Replacement ‘BR’ funds
to cover the cost of this bridge.”

Court Clerk would like to “remind the
public that we are a Passport Acceptance

photos here in my office. We will be changing credit card vendors and sometime in
May we will be able to accept credit card

Assessor’s Office - Gerald Sherrill Jr.
Gerald Sherrill Jr., County Assessor
would like for readers to know about the

An avid golfer, Taylor
has arranged a discount
for other golfers at the
Quartz Mountain Golf

bring their score cards in
to the Sundance Cafe for
a discount. The Sundance

and with cozy conversation areas and open seating. Dining on the patio
is sure to appeal to many
guests. Seating within the

increase in property values. His office
recently sent out 4,000 change notices to
property owners on the subject. Sherrill
said, “All properties in the county have to
be adjusted to Actual Fair Cash value annually. Transferred or sold property must
be brought to 100% of that value . Unsold
property can only be adjusted by 5% annually unless improvements have been added,
new improvements then go on at 100% and
previous improvements go up 5%. These
adjustments are mandated either by Statute
or the Constitution.” Sherrill continued
his explanation, “Last year’s legislation
was passed on the way we are audited by
the Oklahoma Tax Commission, counties
would be held out of compliance if all
adjustments were not implemented. There
are three categories of non-compliance if a
county goes to Category-3 then OTC will
take control of the office and make all mandatory changes. Jackson County is not out
of compliance and has not been for many
