Hi, I’m Cameron Hook
Being Antony and Lois’ son I have grown up
around reptiles since before I could walk.
Ca mero n Hook (Nort ha mpto n)
This evolved into helping in the shop on
Saturdays, I still remember the first animal I
sold which was a grey rat snake, I still see my customer when he comes in for his mice.
Even with doing this from a young age I never really planned on working in the family
business. Whilst I was at school I never really had the motivation or drive because I had
no idea what I wanted to do when I left. So it was perhaps inevitable and always going
to happen that I joined the family business.
I have now worked here full-time for around 3 years and never looked back....
My reptile collection started properly with crested geckos about 8 years ago and it has
just evolved since then. Currently at home along with my geckos I have 4 spiny tailed
monitors which I successfully bred for the first time a couple of months ago and now I
have some more eggs incubator as we speak. Alongside them I have 5 carpet pythons,
a couple of spiders and an unruly blue tongue skink called Boris.
Next to reptiles the biggest love of my life is
skiing. I have been skiing every year since I was
little and when I was 10 I joined the local race
team in Milton Keynes. Within a few years i found
myself competing at the British Welsh and English
championships. At 16 I qualified as a Ski coach.
Also in my spare time I play a lot of poker along
with some Xbox, I am a big fan of the Call of Duty
series!
I play badminton 2-3 times a week for Kettering
B.C. and Northamptonshire.

NEW LIGHTING!
The new Jungle Green LED Lights at WhitePython™ offer a totally unique and modern
concept to keeping Jungle or Rainforest dwelling reptiles. The low wattage lights are
designed to replicate natural sunlight after being filtered through the green leaves of a
Jungle canopy.
Unlike other lighting systems, the LED modular systems can be installed in a matter of
seconds. With it’s simple magnetic tape fixing, you can position the lights in the desired
area without the need for any screws or fixings.

DEAR
SAM!
Q: My corn snake is having
problems shedding and it is
all stuck on his back can you
help me?
Sa m Shapter (Nort ha mpto n)
A: Sometimes snake shave problems shedding if their enclosure is
too dry, there isn’t enough decoration through out the vivarium or
the temperatures are incorrect.
Firstly check the set up. Make sure
you have a heat mat set on a thermostat and a basking bulb. The
temperature underneath the basking
bulb wants to be 90oF and 80oF at
the cool end. At night it needs to be
80oF.
Make sure your vivarium has enough
decoration inside for the snake to rub
its skin off. I recommend plants, vines and pieces of wood for the
snake to wrap itself round.
The last thing is to have a moss box so the snake can dampen its
skin to make it easier to come off.
If you believe your set up is correct and you’re still having problems
with your snake shedding, please call me on 01604 753823 for a
chat.
