October 11, 2015 Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Parishioners and Friends:
Jesus looked at the young man, loved him and said to him,
“You are lacking in one thing. Go sell what you have, and give
to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come,
follow me.” At that statement his face fell, and he went away
sad, for he had many possessions.
[Mark 10:21-22]
Have you ever had anyone look at you like that? Someone
who knows your heart and sees your good intentions but also
sees your naivety but accepts you unconditionally? Rare is
the moment when we are called to all that we can be. Only
love can do this. Thank God if you have had a friend or family
member who can love you so totally, yet still call you to grow.
God calls us all to stretch, to reach out to one another, to
grow beyond our limits and to trust that he will be there for
us. One good example of this is our Stewardship Program
called “Giving Hands, Loving Hearts,” and the way so many
of you completed and submitted your Commitment Card to
the church. Thank you for empowering us to grow as a parish
family. For those parishioners who have not yet taken this
opportunity to discern about increasing their contribution, a
letter will be mailed to you with a personalized Commitment
Card.
It is helpful if all parishioners complete a Commitment
Card because then we know you belong to the parish and we
can send out a Summary Report of the program and have all
commitments accounted for in the report. If you have any
questions, please contact me. We also encourage folks to
consider our electronic giving method, so you can set up your
re-occurring offertory gifts electronically. Thank you for your
generous response!
Question for the week: Can you name a time when
you let go of your comfort to serve something greater? What
can we do to simplify our lives and lifestyles?
Queridos Feligreses y Amigos:
Corresponsabilidad llamado “Manos Caritativas, Corazones
Your Pastor, Fr. Bob

I asked for strength
Yo pido valor
I asked for strength that I might achieve;
I was made weak that I might learn
humbly to obey.
I asked for health that I might do greater
things;
I was given infirmity that I might do
better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be
wise.
I asked for power that I might have the
praise of men;
I was given weakness that I might feel
the need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy
life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all
things.
I got nothing that I had asked for,
But everything that I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself my unspoken
prayers were answered;
I am, among all men, most richly
blessed.
Pedí fortaleza para poder lograr cosas;
Me hicieron débil para aprender humildad para obedecer.
Pedí salud para poder hacer cosas más
grandes;
Pedí riquezas para poder ser feliz;
Me dieron pobreza para ser sabio.
Pedí poder para alcanzar la alabanza de
los hombres;
vida;
Me dieron vida para disfrutar todas las
cosas.
No conseguí nada de lo que pedí,
Pero conseguí todo lo que había esperado.
Casi a pesar de mi mismo mis oraciones
no habladas fueron contestadas;
Yo soy, entre todos los hombres, el
más grandemente bendecido.
