Introduction
Introduction of the Editing and Quantification Team
Solutions L2i is a firm specialized in non-traditional corporate financing. These past
two years, we have developed an expertise in the quantification of carbon credits. In
that capacity, we help companies to count, quantify and accrue their carbon offsets and
ensure their selling. Our expertise consists in selecting, applying and elaborating
quantification methodologies to quantify the emissions based on reputable international
sources. The reports are drafted in accordance with the following guideline: ISO
14064-2.
Profile Summary of the Team Members
Martin Brisebois, B.Sc., M.Env.
Mr. Martin Brisebois obtained a master degree in Environmental Sciences (Climate
Change oriented) in 2006. He has already some experience in GHG quantification and
in heavy metal contaminated waste management. He is currently in the process of
obtaining two Environmental agreements (VEA and EESA), which are licensure
authority agreements on Environmental verification and site evaluation.
Supervision
Mr. Yves Legault (Finance) and Mrs. Melina Valero (Management) are responsible for
supervising the carbon credits quantification team. For many years now, they have been
on the look-out for their customers needs regarding the quantification of greenhouse
gas. They offer GHG quantification services, writing reports and the selling of the
carbon credits on the organized markets such as the voluntary carbon market.

Project Title
Envire Industries Inc. Fuel efficiency measures in freight transport GHG emission
reductions project.
Type of GHG Project
This emission reductions report was written according to ISO 14064-2 Specifications
Requirements for quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emission
reductions and removal enhancements assertions as a fuel efficiency type of project. Fuel
Efficiency is a valid category under CSA’s GHG CleanProjects™ Registry.

Project Description
The project consists in quantifying the greenhouse gas emission reductions attributable
to the fuel consumption reduction because of Envire Industries Inc. H2 - PWR™
technology. Envire Industries Inc. have rented in 2007, 1 system to the freight
transport company Normandin Transport Inc. for testing : Unit 599. As the results
shows, H2 - PWR™ technology developed by Envire Industries Inc. is effective, and
there is a fuel (diesel) consumption reduction of 6,52% for the year 2007 (September to
December) for the unit 599. During 2008, Envire Industries Inc. will rent 220 units to
Normandin Transport Inc., and they forecast a fuel consumption reduction close to 20%;
MPG 7,89 instead of 6,59 in the baseline scenario. In order to prove the additionality of
this reduction project, GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions associated with fuel efficiency
scenario will be compared to the basic freight transport engine diesel consumption in
the baseline scenario for the same distance. In other words, the hypothesis is that if the
fuel efficiency project had not been implemented then the most likely scenario would

have been using the normal freight transport engines on the market by Normandin
Transport.
The H2 – PWR, technology uses hydrogen gas as an “enrichment agent” and not as a
main or alternative fuel source. Envire Industries Inc. units are designed to
significantly reduce GHG emissions by increasing the “combustion efficiency” of any
internal combustion engine using fossil-based fuels. In addition, the H2 – PWR
technology will reduce fuel consumption, which, in turn, will help to reduce dependency
on foreign oil and extend domestic oil reserves.
What is “Hydrogen Enrichment Technology” ?
This technology is based on the process of electrolysis, first discovered by Michael
Faraday in 1828. By applying an electrical charge to water (H2O), it is separated into its
components, hydrogen and oxygen gases. Since 1974, recognized scientific studies from
world-renowned universities as well as the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) have
provided “Proof of Concept” and shown that, by introducing just a small amount of
hydrogen gas into the combustion chambers of any internal combustion engine (ICE), it
will cause a “richer air to fuel ratio”, and will result in a near complete burn of the fossilbased fuels being used to power the engine. By improving the “combustion efficiency of
the burn cycle”, it will significantly lower the output of Greenhouse Gas emissions and
reduce fuel consumption.
How does it work ?
Most internal combustion engines work on “air to fuel ratios” of 14.7 to 1 (SI engines)
and 17.1 to 1 (CI engines). As well, the combustion efficiency of most ICEs today is
approximately 35% leaving about 65% of unburned hydro carbons that come out of the
tailpipe as Greenhouse gas exhaust emissions. When hydrogen gas is introduced into
the combustion chamber and “enriches” the air to fuel ratio, the result is a more
complete, quicker and cleaner burn of the fossil fuel being used. This most significantly
reduces the GHG emissions. In this process, it is important to note that hydrogen is
used as an enrichment agent for existing fossil-based fuels (gas, diesel, bio-diesel,
ethanol blends, propane, natural gas, etc.).
Envire Industries Inc. technology is so advanced today that the hydrogen / oxygen gases
can actually be produced “on-board” a vehicle and only ”on-demand” when the engine is
running, eliminating the need for a nation-wide infrastructure of fuelling stations. Since
there are no storage tanks of highly–pressurized hydrogen gas required, this technology
is completely safe.

Project Starting Date
The fuel efficiency project starts September 2007.
Offsets Use and Users
The target users are the potential offsets VER (Verified Emission Reductions) buyers
on the carbon voluntary market.
Programs Presentation
The GHG project will be part of the CSA program called the GHG Clean Project
Registry and will be publicly listed. CSA requires conformity with ISO 14064-2
standard for GHG emission reductions projects.
GHG Project Protocols and Standards
Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) were assessed according the ISO 14064 part 2
international standard. Thus, PDD (Project Design Document) was drafted in
accordance with the provisions and guidelines of ISO 14064-2.
Risks and / or Limits of the Report
This quantification report has been prepared based on several information sources. Site
visit and data collection were completed on June 2008. Thereafter, some complementary
demands were made to complete the document.
Compliance with relevant local laws and regulations related to the project
There are no specific Canadian or Quebec laws or regulations that stipulate the
obligation for the freight transport industries to lower their fuel consumption because of
GHG emissions; although regulation exists in Canada to control air pollutant emissions

from road traffic, this regulation are for other pollutants. In other words, there are no
laws that stipulate that Envire Insdustries Inc. had to apply the project in this report,
they could have continued with the baseline scenario instead.
Methodology
Envire Industries Inc. has implemented technologies based on the process of electrolysis
for the production of hydrogen to enhance the combustion efficiency of the engine.
Thus, consuming less diesel for the same distance.
The choice of the quantification methodology has been based on several internationally
recognized sources as Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, Canadian Inventory official source and recognized
quantification protocol sources.
Additionality for this project is calculated based on the diesel combustion CO2 eq
emissions of the H2 – PWR technology compared to the normal diesel combustion
for freight truck transport. Total emission reductions are obtained by subtracting the
emissions in the project scenario from the baseline scenario.

Proof of Ownership of the Credits:
Envire Industries Inc. own the equipment in 2007, because the technology was rented
to Normandin Transport Inc. Envire Industries Inc. will have to notify its customers
since Envire is claiming the carbon credits for the global fuel reduction consumption.
Verification notification
Initially quantified by L2I – Financial Solutions Consultant, the verification of the
VERs will be conducted by the external verification entity GDTS Services Conseils (SPA)
inc. according ISO 14064 part 3.

1.1 Envire Industries Inc. History
Envire Industries Inc. is a start-up Canadian company, headquartered in Quebec, which
has developed an innovative, emerging and proven technology that directly addresses
the public demand for clean air and reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
This new and exciting patent-pending “Hydrogen-based Technology”, trade-marked
under the name H2 – PWR is now ready for commercialization.
Envire Industries Inc. has met the challenge of finding and creating a new, passive and
environmentally friendly technology that directly addresses the problems of clean air,
global warming and climate change that the public now demands, and will provide, in
significant measure, an interim solution to the environmental issues facing the world
today. This technology will help to reduce the ever-increasing number of smog-alert
days and respiratory health problems of our citizens. Most importantly, Envire Industries
Inc. technology will not require any major changes or adjustments in the everyday
lifestyles of consumers or corporate entities making this technology a very attractive
and immediate solution. In addition, their technology also provides a formidable
“economic” advantage to consumers and corporations alike because of the added bonus
of reducing fuel consumption resulting in lower energy costs and increased profits.
Approximately 5,000 square feet is projected for future requirements consisting of office
space, R&D area for production of trial units, testing and installation. Manufacturing
and assembly space requirements are to be determined after the initial marketing
process commences and based on initial sales.
1.2 Data Collection
Data collection was completed through interviews, on site, in Pointe Claire in June 2008
and the rest of the data during August 2008.
During the site visit, the organization overall operations has been reviewed in order to
understand all processes and associated equipment impacting the level of greenhouse
gases emissions.
Phone conversations with the research and development consultant, Mr. Peter
Romaniuk was necessary in order to complete the information.
1.3 GHG Project Scenarios – Envire Industries Inc.
The project scenario is based on diesel consumption for one truck unit with the
H2-PWR technology from Envire Industries Inc. implemented in late August 2007.

The factors, in this report, reflecting fuel combustion originate from the Canadian
Inventory official source1.
1.4 Baseline Scenarios Description and Selection
The baseline scenario for the H2 – PWR technology could imply the use of standard
ICE for truck freight transport without H2 – PWR technology installed. This
baseline scenario implies combustion of more litres of diesel than the project scenario,
since the H2 – PWR technology developed by Envire Industries Inc. has a greater
combustion efficiency, and therefore needs less diesel for the same distance.
GHG General Information
The main greenhouse gases responsible for global warming are: carbon dioxide (CO2),
methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), perfluorocarbon (PFC)
and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6). Gases involved in this project are CO2, CH4 and N2O,
based essentially on fossil fuel combustion from ICE engines.

1.5 GHG Reductions Monitoring
Data Management
Data of diesel consumption and performance are measured though an on-board
computer in the unit 599 of Normandin Transport and then compiled on computer.
System backups are done systematically on a monthly basis.
Quality Control and Monitoring
Results and data collection were performed by Normandin and then reported to Envire.
During those data collection, Envire was able to experiment, analyze and evaluate many
improvements to the technology.
The project monitored data is used in the quantification of the Envire Industries Inc.
GHG emission reductions. One type of energy units is basically used for this project:
litre of diesel. The distance is also a data monitored for the GHG emissions reduction
project. That data gives an overall Miles per gallon performance (MPG) for the unit
tested. M. Peter Romaniuk is responsible for collecting the data.
Fossil fuel (Diesel) data will be filed for all discussed controlled sources, including
stationary and mobile sources, per month or per calendar year.

Environmental Impacts
The project fuel efficiency activities achieved by Envire Industries Inc. are beneficial for
the environment since less diesel fuel is necessary for the same distance. The company’s
goal is to reduce the overall fossil fuel consumption by using their H2 – PWR
technology. Government testing of Envire Industries Inc. technology has shown results in
reducing emissions. That way, the negative environmental impacts will be lowered.

2.1 Methodology Selection
The choice of the quantification methodology has been based on several internationally
recognized sources as Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, National Inventory and recognized quantification
protocol sources.
2.2 Total GHG Emission Reductions
Additionality for this project is calculated based on the quantity of diesel combusted
CO2 eq emissions of the H2 – PWR technology compared to the standard diesel
quantity combusted for freight truck transport without H2 – PWR technology. Total
emission reductions are obtained by subtracting the emissions in the project scenario
from the baseline scenario. Therefore the National Inventory factor was used in the
quantification because it supports the principle of conservativeness.
For the total project quantification, one unit (599) was tested during four months
(September to December 2007) for a MPG performance equivalent to 7,02 instead of
6,59 MPG in the baseline scenario. The baseline MPG was calculated before the H2 –
PWR technology was installed; during July 2007. The average km done by one
Normandin Transport truck is 236 000 km per year. Those data are directly compiled
by the on-board computer in the unit 599.
This report is very important in order to forecast the GHG emission reductions for the
next few years (2008-2010) for 220 trucks with a forecasted performance of 7,89 MPG.
The performance is supposed to be higher because in 2007, the unit 599 was tested with
different adjustments to the H2 – PWR technology. The owner of the credits will be
Envire Industries Inc. since they will rent the 220 H2 – PWR technology systems to
the freight transport company.

2.3 Uncertainty and Limits
Uncertainty is associated to the methodology, data and variables used in the
quantification of the GHG emissions. Energy consumption data per distance is closely
monitored and controlled.
Over the past year, Envire Industries has conducted “controlled” laboratory tests
(ITAQ, Environment Canada), as well as real condition “on-road” testing by

They have shown that a reduction in fuel consumption correlates directly in a reduction
in CO2e. In addition, with the H2 - PWR™ technology, individual gases such as CO,
CO2, PM, HC, NOx, SOx, O2 have diminished in “% of composition” as well as “mass or

volume” when these gases are exhausted as tailpipe emissions. In an effort to constantly
improve their technology, Envire Industries Inc. is committed to continue developing
and testing its products with recognized testing facilities to ensure a first-class product.
The testing was done at the Canadian National Research Center (CNRC).
The overall level of uncertainty is rather low since the methodology and all emission
factors are provided by official the National Inventory report5.
Conclusion
Envire Industries Inc. fuel efficiency project contributes to reduce GHG emissions by
reducing diesel consumption. Consistent with their environmental mission, Envire
Industries Inc. and their committed employees are proud to be working toward the
resolution of the global climate change issues.
