Boys Varsity Basketball
Coach Dick O’Day
he Bangor Boys Varsity Basketball team had two games over the
weekend. Friday night the Vikings
traveled to Martin and brought home a
big “road win” 62-54. Our Vikings were
lead by Coty Clark who had a game
high and career high 32 points! Tyler
Graham contributed 15 points while
David Watkins chipped in 7 points. Jacob
Freislinger & Enrique Peterson both had
4 points each. We were very aggressive in
our play getting after every loose ball and
our intensity level was outstanding. The
team played extremely hard and really
“earned” this win.
Then on Saturday we traveled to
Kalamazoo to play the Phoenix Fury
at Reed Fieldhouse on the campus of
Western Michigan University where we
ran into a “buzz saw” and lost 99-62. The
team once again played extremely hard
and represented Bangor very well. Again
it was Coty Clark leading the Viking
attack with a game high 25 points. David
Watkins dropped 21 points while Tyler
Graham had 7 points. To round out the
Viking scoring – Jacob Freislinger had 4
points; Enrique Peterson and E.J. Burns
each had 2 points; and Ricky Ayala had
1 point.
Next up for Varsity is this Friday night
(1/17) when we travel to Saugatuck.
Varsity Competitive Cheer
Coach Margaret Stockton
T
he varsity Competitive cheer team
traveled to Gull Lake last Saturday
for their Blue Devils Invitational. The
girls placed first in Division 4 against
seven other D4 teams. The team also
broke 600 points total for the first time
this season, as well as hitting a record
round 1 score of 197.5. Currently, BHS
cheer is first in our district and we hope
to keep it up. Our next competition is
this Saturday at Paw Paw at 10am!
The varsity competitive cheer team
traveled to Paw Paw on Saturday where
they took home their third win in a row.
The lady vikings got a BHS cheer record
total score of 627.8 and are still first in
our district. This is a busy week for the
girls. We will be traveling to Coloma on
Monday, Schoolcraft on Wednesday and
Otsego on Saturday. If you haven’t seen
these girls compete yet, they would love
your support!!
The 7th & 8th grade girls opened
their season at home vs. Martin. The
8th grade girls final score was Bangor
8-17. Jamie Allen & Epiphany Parker
each scored 4 points. Elisabeth Jackson,
Karyssa Gallegos, Madison McGuire and
Diana Villalobos each scored 2 points.
Elisabeth Jackson also had 6 rebounds
while Karyssa Gallegos

Bangor Finishes 3rd in SAC
T
he Bangor wrestling team traveled
to Hartford this past Saturday to
compete in the SAC conference wrestling
tournament. The Viking mat squad entered the competition in 3rd place with a
conference record of 7-2 and an over-all
record of 21-10. The Vikings trail Lawton who is ranked 4th in the state in the
most recent coaches poll. Bangor would
need a few upset victories if they hoped
to move up in the conference standings.
Wrestling News
angor was led by Junior, state qualifier
Ishmael Hodge and junior Nikk Hall
who both won championships at 119 lbs
and 140 lbs respectively. Maher Ramirez
placed 2nd at 112 lbs while Senior, Kenny
Aemisegger placed 2nd in the 215 pound
weight class. Savion Willis and Devon
Kozel placed 3rd in their respective weight
classes. Senior Micky McGuire rounded
out the Viking placers with a respectable
4th place finish in the 171 pound class.
When the dust settled the Vikings
maintained their 3rd place standing. The
Raiders of Decatur finished in second place
while the Lawton Blue Devils won the SAC
championship for the first time in 18 years.
“I was proud of the way our kids battled
in this tournament. The SAC is one of the
premiere division 4 wrestling conferences
in the state. Every year we have a number
of our teams ranked in the state and SAC
wrestlers perform very well at the State
finals.” Stated veteran Bangor wrestling
coach, Dennis Paquette. “We came into
this tournament in 3rd place- we left in 3rd
place. We had 2 champs, 2 runners-up,
2 third place finishers and a fourth place
finisher. We can be proud of our performance here.”

“Return Unto Me
and I Will Return Unto You”
Malachi 3:7
“A
nd unto the angel of the church of the
Laodiceans write; These things saith
the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the
beginning of the creation of God;
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor
hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither
cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased
with goods, and have need of nothing; and
knowest not that thou art wretched, and
miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the
fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment,
and thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame
of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine
eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
As many as I love, I rebule and chasten: be
zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any
man hear my voice, and open the door, I will
come in to him, and will sup with him, and he
with me.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with
me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am
set down with my Father in his throne.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what Spirit
saith unto the churches.”
