PRABHU DAYAL PUBLIC SCHOOL
Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi - 110 088
Dear Readers,
A warm welcome to all the students, parents, teachers and
management committee members to this edition of e-newsletter
“Blue Streak” (Vol. I : 2014-15).
Blue Streak is about the children, for the children and by the
children of PDPS. To ensure that school education prepares the child
for life a wholesome approach to learning has been taken up in our
school; as you will see in Blue Streak.
The editorial board would like to gratefully acknowledge the
cordial cooperation of all the people who helped in putting together
this news letter and would like to express our sincere thanks to
Principal, Mr. A. K. Sharma for his valuable inputs and suggestions.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK……..
“The motto of Prabhu Dayal Public School is
“TRUST THYSELF”
“Trust thyself” generally means that if you trust yourself, then
you can truly be content in whatever you do or whichever direction
you follow to set and target your life curve, what you must do, is all
that concerns you, not what people think. This is something that
everyone deals with. You can't base your actions and feelings on how
others judge you. What you think about yourself should come from
somewhere within and should not be confused with the
interpretations of others. There is a time in every man's education
when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation
is suicide ; that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his
portion; that though we are surrounded by goodness, but to be good
ourselves we have to work at it in our lives. If you try like everyone
else, the future will ultimately strip you of your identity. You must
accept who you are and only then can you make yourself feel worthy,
because until you feel condent about yourself, you cannot make your
mark anywhere.
We at PDPS believe in ourselves and others as well. We believe
in the penetration of the sky of unknown realities spread all around
towards endless dimensions.
“Blue Streak” is just a ray of hope into darkness that I like to
become a beam of LIGHT one day ????
Best wishes to all
A K Sharma

Creativity Takes Varied Shapes In The Primary
Wing Of The School
We, at Prabhu Dayal Public School believe that textual studies are only
but a part of the full development of the child and therefore provide a spectrum
of in-house activities, school assemblies, inter and intra school competitions,
workshops, excursions, eld trips, etc.
Surrounded by the lush green environment, the Primary Wing of the
school prides itself on having an excellent infrastructure, a multi-purpose
playground and well-lighted air-conditioned classrooms.
There are spacious rooms for drawing - colouring, music, dance and musical
instruments. Computer Lab. and Audio –Visual room conform to the latest
techniques of teaching.
Smart Classes for Smart Learners
Technology has been a boon in the lives of people and if it's good then
why not our students benet out of it!!!
Keeping pace with the times, the school introduced Smart Classes in the
current session. This kind of visual aid is both eye-catching and interesting so
that young students can easily relate to it. It is comparatively easier to learn and
retain something that is taught visually rather than the conventional methods of
teaching where one has to just keep on reading pages one after another.
Morning Assembly
We begin our day in the morning with prayers in the assembly. The
students from classes I to V, by rotation, speak - Thought for the Day as well as
the important national and international news and also impart some information
about educational facts, recent discoveries, amazing facts, poem recitals, story
narrations, theme based skits and so on. The Morning Assembly is also the time
to impart some moral values to the young citizens of our nation either through
small skits, short stories or anecdotes.
Plethora of Fun-Filled Learning Activities
There is surfeit of activities so that each and every child is able to
participate in the eld of choice to his/her heart's content.
Many intellectual and creative activities are meaningfully organised with
the range of competitions like Recitation, Hand writing, Show and Tell, Science
Quiz, Maths Quiz, Solo- Singing, Spell Bee, G.K. Quiz, Computer Paint Brush,
Fancy Dress, Dumb Charades and so on. These all competitions and cocurricular activities, being novel and educative, strengthen the curricular
program.
Students have been participating in various inter –school competitions
like Tableau Presentation, Science Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Model
Making. Our proud winners have been bringing laurels to the school. It was
indeed a proud moment for us when the slogan given by our primary kids was
selected from Zonal to Central and later for the State Level too.
Special Assemblies
As far as festivals are concerned our young performers celebrate all the
national festivals, religious festivals as well as special days with great fervour
and enthusiasm.
So far in this session we have celebrated festivals like Earth Day,
Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Janamashtami, Durga Pooja ,
Dussehra......
Little Hands at Work – School Workshops
“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” We, at P.D.P.S., believe that there
is an orator, an athlete, a mathematician, an artist, a dancer and a musician
hidden in each child waiting to be discovered. The school aims at providing the
holistic development to all 'our' children. In our endeavour to do so various
workshops ranging from Art n Craft, Story Telling, Table Manners, Time
Management, Effective Study Strategies and so on are conducted in the school
on a regular basis. These workshops are conducted by eminent professionals
from various elds. All these efforts help every single child to discover the
hidden talent in him/her..
Delightful Drawings by our Little Hands
YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS BRING LAURELS
Mathematics genius of P.D.P.S. brought laurels to the school by
bagging commendable positions in State and National levels in the
International Maths Olympiad. Karan Kapoor of class XII (2013-14)
stood rst in the state level and second in the inter-national level
beating 3 lakhs contenders scoring 98.318%. Pranav Tanwar of class
XII stood second in the State level and 18th in the national level.
Many other students won gold, silver and bronze medals and
certicates in Level I. The school Principal Mr. A K Sharma,
congratulated and felicitated the students for their outstanding
performance.

CREATIVE CORNER
GRATITUDE
I was walking in the lane,
Watching people strolling,
There was not much to gain.
The sun was shining at its best,
Some tiny creatures were having rest.
I had reached a provision store,
And filled up my bag with biscuits, cakes and much more.
Suddenly, I noticed a sight,
Two puppies shivering in fright
A boy of ten held up a stone,
The little creatures could do nothing but moan.
I snatched the stone and threw it away,
Warning him not to do his any other day.
The puppies ran towards me licking my hands,
It seemed as if they were saying thanks
From that day whenever I crossed the road
They came to me be it hot or cold.

A RAINY MORNING
I opened the dream world's clock,
Time was only five o'clock,
I woke up early, I was in a shock,
But soon after, I was ready to rock.
I sat down on the bed,
With my milk and bread,
I was feeling very bored,
Then the wind roared.
I went out to see what the matter was,
According to my expectation it was something greater,
The sky was full of clouds
Now the noise was coming loud
I was very pleased with the scene
It was something that had never been…
I enjoyed a lot : that vibrating loud sound,
At that time I wanted to go to a ground
Night ended but the morning did not begin
Sun had not arrived but the moon had departed
Soon it started drizzling
The experience was sizzling
The little rain drops touched my face
Then it started increasing its pace
The drops were looking as if they were in a race
The nature was looking in its full grace.
Soon the area was full of water
So I turned to my bed again
And for me it was the end of the rain.

Winners don't do different things , they do things differently.
When we strive to become better than we are, everything
around us becomes better too.
Enthusiasm is the element of success in everything.
Though no one can go back, and make a brand new start;
anyone can start from new and make a brand new ending.
Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I am possible.
