– NGA Agrees in Principle to Support DUSD(I&E) Role
– DoD Directive 5105.60
o NGA Supports Including “Installation Geospatial Information & Services” or “IGI&S”
o NGA Supports Naming USD(AT&L) as Functional Proponent for IGI&S for DoD
– Consider Memorializing The Partnership in a Memorandum
•
We are Building Support for Solving Your Information Assurance and
Information Security Requirements
•
We Are Seeking Faster Technology Transfer from High Side to Low
Side

4
What the Department Expects from You
•
DISDI Data is DoD Data – Think Ours, Not Mine
– DoD CIO Guidance, DoDD 8320.2 Net-Centric Data Strategy
– Requires That We Make Data Visible, Accessible, and Understandable
– OSD and Service Headquarters Staff Rely on You to Steward and
Share IGI&S Data
•
Data Visibility – DISDI Portal
– Leadership Wants More Data Layers (Best Available)
– Leadership Wants Access to High Resolution Imagery (e.g. Air Photo)
– All Data and Imagery Should Be Current
•
The Bottom Line: Leaders Need Seamless Access to
Installation Information for Fact-Based Decision Making

Transforming DISDI to Benefit the DoD Business
Transformation Agenda
Proposed Next Steps
– A Vision Statement: articulate the desired end state of making IGI&S resources an
effective part of the NSDI
– A Mission Statement: underscore the significance of business transformation and
commitment of OSD to adapt to new strategic, programmatic and organizational
catalysts, and outline a more traditional OSD staff role (e.g. oversight, policy and
guidance) for BEI-DISDI
– Re-focus the BEI-DISDI scope of responsibilities to representing the “To Be” IGI&S
environments; withdraw from representing BMA GI&S concerns on the Federal
Geographic Data Committee. The Services continue to manage ‘as is’ IGI&S portfolios,
and increase participation in their Services’ I&E activities
– Incorporate appropriate IGI&S assets into the new BEI Portfolio to demonstrate that all
information technology assets, to include spatial IT assets, are subject to fiscal oversight
in accordance with DoDD 8115.01
– Re-focus DISDI COI to implement IGI&S Mission Area’s commitment to Net-Centric Data
