7. Driver Installation for Windows XP
A
Connect the controller to the PC using the 1394 FireWire
cable. If the installation doesn’t start automatically, search
for scanCONTROL in the device manager (Start > Control
Panel > System > Device Manager). scanCONTROL is
classified as camera device and is either located under
“Imaging Devices” or “Other Devices”. Right-click the
camera device and choose “Update Driver”.

Please note the sequence for installation:
1. Hardware installation of the IEEE1394 interface

1. Connect the sensor cable to jack A
2. Connect the controller to the power supply (jack B)
3. Use the IEEE1394 FireWire cable and one of the jacks
C (any can be used) to connect the controller to the PC
4. Turn around the key D to switch the laser on

Please insert the scanCONTROL Demo-CD into your

CD-ROM drive. The following dialog will appear to guide
you through the software installation.

Mark “No, not this time” and click on “Next”.

The sensor can be mounted in two different ways:
1. with three M4 threaded holes, 5 mm deep
2. with three through holes dia. 4.5 mm
Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)”
and click “Next”.

Select “Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install.”
and click “Next”.
On the left side you can adjust the settings for your measurement task, the right side shows the profile data and
information about the measurement.
9. How to access Profile Data
Profile data of scanCONTROL can be accessed via:
-- DCAM standard v.1.30 for digital cameras via
IEEE 1394 FireWire interface
-- SDK for fast application integration (C, C++, C# and
others
-- CMU-Module for application development with
ICONNECT
Select the driver “CMU 1394 Digital Camera Device” and
click “Next”.
For details refer to the enclosed online manuals.
The “Hardware Installation” dialog will then appear.
Click on “Continue Anyway” to confirm this dialog.
10. Further Information
In the next dialog click “Finish” to end the driver
installation.
8. First Profile
If the demo software shows the error message “No LLT
found on the IEEE 1394-Bus” in the status line, please
check the installed driver in the device manager (Start >
Control Panel > System > Device Manager).

Now start the scanCONTROL Demo-Software. Click on
“Display Profile” in the main window.

designed for use in industrial applications and is characterized by high speed and high accuracy of measurement.
The scanCONTROL Demo-Software visualizes profiles and
helps you to find the correct parameters for your measurement task. This quick manual shows you how to install the
Demo-Software and the correct drivers to get your first
profile data.
