Stewardship
One of Carolyn’s messages last week focused on the concept of Stewardship or
Generosity within the church. We were asked by Carolyn to identify some of
the areas where we make a difference in the community. One of those was the
“Diaper Drive”. This is the final week to contribute to that outreach.
Diaper Drive
Again this year the Ecumenical Council for Homeless Prevention is
sponsoring a diaper drive. Diapers are collected at different churches in
Damariscotta/ Newcastle area and stored at the Damariscotta Baptist
Church for distribution through the Ecumenical Food Pantry. This is an
important ministry because babies and toddlers who are left in dirty diapers get diaper rash and other infections. At Water of Life we are collecting diapers of all sizes, but newborn and sizes 5 and 6 are the most
critical need. Please help by purchasing a box/package of diapers and
placing them under the table in the fellowship room. If you prefer not
to purchase the diapers but would like to contribute, there is a canister
on the table for monetary contributions. The collection runs from
Mother’s Day through Father’s Day., June 19. Thank you for any help
you can give.

Vacation Bible School/Vacation Bible Camp
Adapted from the Concordia blog
Getting involved in VBS doesn't mean you have to get sticky with crafts, play rowdy
games with kids or even give up a ton of time. There are many ways for the church
family to get involved, no matter what the skill, energy level or schedules may look
like.
While Vacation Bible School focuses on the children in our church and community,
there are plenty of ways to involve the entire church in VBS. The most obvious way
is through church members volunteering to serve as teachers and leaders during the
week. However, those who are unable to commit to helping each day can still play a
vital role in impacting lives through VBS.
1. For those who are no longer able to actively serve, start a prayer team for the
teachers, students and helpers at VBS
2. Invite your neighbors, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren by talking to them
or by giving them a flyer or postcard explaining the VBS
3. Donate items for the crafts or snacks during VBS week
4. Help decorate the church prior to the start of VBS….donate a pizza or other
lunch item to those people doing the set-up!
5. Talk to the teachers and students who attended VBS and find out what kind
of impact it made on them. Use this information to guide your involvement
The Boothbay Region YMCA “Arts for All” program recently
performed a play based on the JM Barrie story of “Peter Pan.“
Many members of the community with intellectual disabilities participate along with volunteers from the Boothbay community.
James Owen and Missy Brunell were among those who performed
in the play.
They were joined by many of their peers who also participate in our
“Night of Joy” program every month. The June ‘Night of Joy” is
scheduled for June 17th. We will not be having a regular church service for the months of July and August but will host our guests with
a Barbeque in July and an Ice Cream Social in August.
