that the two companies will launch an ad-supported
free-to-air Disney Channel in Russia. The broadlydistributed channel will feature Disney’s popular

Products. Chapek will oversee a newly formed

Studios’ distribution and oversaw
the delivery of all motion pictures
and television content across the
theatrical exhibition, home entertainment, pay TV,
digital formats, and other new media.

Shanghai Disney Resort Ground Breaking
The Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi
Group, its joint venture partner in China, mark the
start of construction on the first Disney resort in
mainland China at a groundbreaking ceremony. The
new Shanghai Disney Resort is slated to open in

Filmyard Holdings LLC. The deal includes rights
in over 700 film titles, as well as non-film assets,

Lifetime Entertainment Services
Disney-ABC Television Group, Hearst Corporation
and NBC Universal announce an agreement for
A&E Television Networks to acquire Lifetime
Entertainment Services. The merger was finalized
on September 15, 2009. Prior to the merger Disney
owned 37.5% of A&E and 50% of Lifetime.
