“Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome
to the European Universities Golf
Championship 2015 in Waldkirch!
Today I will be short, same rules as
yesterday...”; the majestic voice of
Rob Macpherson greets the players
on tee 1. The feeling is the same as a
pro tournament – goosebumps at the
highest level! The nerves are tense;
another day of fighting is ahead of the
incredible players.

– to be honest – the St. Gallen team too,
the weather was no surprise! Another
typical autumn day for Waldkirch.
The day seems perfect, hot and sunny,
but rain-gear showed up from all the
bags, ready to be worn at the first sign

Swiss volunteer – the real heroes!

Today our volunteers were the
real heroes!
What started as a wonderful sunny
and warm day – perfect for a golf
round, changed within the first hour
of game: the sun disappeared behind
dark threatening clouds, a very unfriendly strong and cold wind started
blowing against the face and it finally
started to rain. It finally stopped
around midday – giving a break to
our players and volunteers on the
field – to start all over again at 15.00.
But our forecaddies are tough people,
they stayed there, faithful to their
very important job without showing
any fear of the rain. The players were
really thankful and the tournament
was a success again, despite the awful
weather conditions. The slogan „warm
welcome – here to help – highly
organized“ can definitely be said out
loud. Thank you everyone for the
incredible commitment!
